Pereira gets more leeway because he came with less baggage plus alot if us just don't care either way at this point when it's number four of a crap season. Pereira's record, on paper, is shite.
Actually, I'd strongly argue that Pereira's overall managerial record of just short of a 53% win percentage is the complete opposite of shite, the truth being that it's very, very good. And more so when compared to Sean's overall 32%.

Remember when Dyche was lambasted for bringing on Taiwo as a sub against Everton? Now the majority are screaming for him to start.

The problem Dyche (and Ange) had was no one really wanted them from the start. This means as soon as it goes wrong the knives are out. Dyche already labelled a dinosaur and Ange far too gung-ho.

Context is important though. So many of those games were immediately after Wolves had sold their best players and others who wanted out, they were a complete shell of a club.

But Rob Edwards is also getting more out of those players than Peraira did as well in context.

Again you have to look at the entire picture. It's always more difficult while you're at the beginning of that turmoil which VP was, the entire club was up in the air. The pressure has also been off Wolves for quite some time now as they fate was all but sealed a long time ago. There's no fear with them any longer, they can just give every game a good go and try to pick up some win bonuses.

Yes that’s correct there is less pressure I can’t deny that but there was obviously talent there that Vitor wasn’t good enough to get something from.

Anyway if Vitor gets a few more wins in April we’ll be laughing. Beat Villa and Burnley and that could be a momumenral for us

Let's not heap the pressure on to win both of those. Teams fighting relegation are doing so for a reason. Winning 3 in a row is unlikely.

Annoyingly, Villa have got McGinn back and look more like the team that steamrollered us after Christmas as opposed to the stumbling side they were in February. I'd take 3 or 4 points from the next 2. As long as we take a further 3 or 4 points from the final games we'll be fine.

In our case the "reason" is all of the following
- we have played most of the season without adequate cover for our 34 year old striker who got about 20 last season and has been injured
- we have a European campaign which has meant most weeks the same players playing Thursday and Sunday because the squad players haven't been good enough
- we have hired 3 terrible managers who haven't been able to (in their own way) get the best out of the players we do have

I get most fans overrate their players but realistically we should be a few places higher. There is no way we shouldn't beat Burnley or Sunderland, though Villa will be a lot harder, they are doing well and still in the EL so are a decent side and we shouldn't expect anything from there, though if we play well enough (and score some goals of course) we should be able to win.

Not sure we’ve “hired 3 terrible managers” this season, 2 definitely, but who’s the 3rd?

We've hired 3 managers so it's quite obvious who they are!

Ange (no defensive plan, got sacked by Spurs for coming 17th)
Dyche (ugly style of play, got results but also some howlers in there and the players didn't like him)
Pereira (didn't win in the league until the end of March, part of Wolves side which had 2 points by about Christmas time, doesn't look much better if at all than Dyche results wise - if Dyche is being counted as bad he should be too)

I agree that because we’ve hired 3 managers “it’s quite obvious who they are”, however I take issue with the description that all 3 are terrible. We are now playing in a much more coherent style with proactive substitutions being made. Unlike our previous manager we are not just lumping it forward and crossing onto the heads of big centre halves and certainly not throwing players under the bus post match. Also unlike the manager before that we are able to defend generally and set pieces in particular. VP’s record is p9 W3 D2 L3 with only 2 of those 9 games (Brighton & Midtjylland h) being anything remotely approaching terrible.

I think there were a few times when other managers haven't made changes as well - Nuno and Cooper used to do it sometimes if we were getting thrashed or something. It also depends what options we have to bring on. Plenty on the matchday thread last night were wanting Sangare hooked at half time because he was on a booking and Vitor didn't do it. It's hard for us to judge because we see what we see but the manager sees a lot more. Tactically I think Dyche was just trying to keep things simple because if you do the basics well that gives you the foundation to build, and he was probably right with what he said about the players, but throwing them under the bus probably doesn't work well with modern players.

If we take VP's record in the league for us it is W1 D2 L2 and in the EL it is W2 L2. For Wolves it is D2 L8. Liverpool and Brighton we were continuing to have opportunities but no really threatening ones and even yesterday on another day T would have just missed that cross rather than getting a leg on it, MGW's shot straight at the keeper would have been saved rather than going through him, and Jesus might have had that header cleared off the line. None of that is really on the manager in the same way that the Wolves match wasn't on Dyche, any other day one of those would have gone in.

Results and performances still have a long way to go

I think we’ll just have to agree to disagree, if you say that performances v Liverpool, Man City, Spurs and, to a certain extent, Fulham still have a long way to go then I can only bow to your greater statistical knowledge, but football results are decided by small margins and if we were lucky to score all 3 against Spurs yesterday we were very unlucky not to beat Fulham.

The difference between Dyche and what we've seen so far from VP is night and day. Surely not even the most ardent of Dyche fans can think that we don't look better now.
Oh yes, they can. And they will.

Yesterday was huge because of the pressure. Villa won't be, but Burnley sure as hell will be. That's the type of home game we have a tendency to mess up.

Hi Statto- this is all a bit 'glass half-full', buddy. We were intensely unlucky to lose to Liverpool. We've had some very marginal off-sides against Fulham ('Fine Margins' as sh*t managers like to say)- it's just as easy to argue we could and should have another 4 points under VP.

Having said that his ACTUAL record of 3-2-4 over the season would see us VERY comfortably mid-table. What's more, we're actually playing with purpose- you can see what we're trying to do, under Dyche I was as mystified as the players were and I won't even mention FlAnge.

I hope you're right that there's more to come-but the 'green shoots' are there to see, bud.

He's not wrong, though. And I'd say most fans have woken up to the fact that we bought a load of crap in the Summer now. It'd be nice to actually have a straight-talking, honest setup that don't make out all these shite players are amazing. I can't fault Dyche for calling the spade a spade.

That's fair and I understand mate.

To me his job wasn't to be in the press calling a spade a spade though. I don't need a manager telling me what my eyes can already see and then absolving himself of all blame, when my eyes can also see that he is just as terrible. I want him to have solutions and be working on getting the players playing for him and to the very best of their abilities.

He couldn't seem to get out of soundbite mode.

I still feel for him losing his dream job but I also do not miss him, and with every appearance since he's left I am actually more glad he's gone. Which is a shame.

It's easy to make similar arguments under Dyche though. If Neco hadn't been sent off we might have beaten Palace and got more than we did v Leeds. If one of those in the Wolves match had gone in we would have won that. That's without even really trying.

Dyche's actual record is P25 W10 D6 L9. That's 1.44 a game which is 55 points a season. Vitor's of 3-2-4 (which includes EL) is 1.22.

Would we be in a similar position if we had kept him? Probably. He wasn't the answer but the one we have isn't much better if he is at all.

If Dyche did have time to focus on getting the basics right and did manage to achieve this, then we might have had more chance to see how far he could then have taken the team, if at all. At the moment it's very similar...

Would be interesting / funny if he got the Spurs job - think he would send them down. I really wanted Dyche, but every club seems to do better once he has gone. Think he is very one dimensional and glad he is gone.
He will get another job at some point, and then we can see if he has the ability to change.
