I'm not talking about or interested in Dutch or Argentinian leagues, that American league is 3rd rate and that's where Surridge is playing.I suppose if we're going to consider the Dutch and Argentine top flight leagues as third rate then one could probably say the same of MLS, although it is ranked ahead of both of those, and ahead of the English Championship.
I've said it many times before, Surridge never got a fair crack at the Prem, so I don't think we can confidently state that he's not Prem standard. In another timeline, I think he'd have surprised a lot of people, had he been given more game time. 10 minutes here and there as a sub at the end of a game is not at all sufficient to base a judgment on.
I mention the Dutch and Argentine leagues because the MLS is ranked ahead of both, yet we have signed players from them who have made multiple Premier League appearances. The point being that the MLS is no longer a substandard professional league; it is in a similar ranking band to the Belgian, Dutch, Argentine and Portuguese top flight leagues.I'm not talking about or interested in Dutch or Argentinian leagues, that American league is 3rd rate and that's where Surridge is playing.
He did well for us but if you think he's PL standard then you're bonkers.
I wish Surridge all the best & I'm grateful for his contribution at Forest but I'm confident in my opinion that he's not PL standard and at 28 it's unlikely that he ever will be.I mention the Dutch and Argentine leagues because the MLS is ranked ahead of both, yet we have signed players from them who have made multiple Premier League appearances. Maybe you're right about Surridge, after all no other top flight clubs appear to have made an effort to sign him. But he's the leading scorer in MLS, ahead of Messi, and seems to have captured some of that swagger he had for us in the championship. He's now in his footballing prime, and if he continues in this scoring vein I'd be quite surprised if a bottom half PL side don't take a chance on him.
Well, he did just bag a beautiful assist and goal against a top 6 EPL side at the weekend in what was a fairly competitive game. He also just turned 27 a few days ago.I wish Surridge all the best & I'm grateful for his contribution at Forest but I'm confident in my opinion that he's not PL standard and at 28 it's unlikely that he ever will be.
Haha, yeah, its a bit of a mystery but apparently draws on a range of ranking data from such bodies as UEFA, FIFA, and the International Federation of Football History & Statistics. It appears these are team performance and results-based metrics, which did surprise me when I took a quick look online, as I'd have assumed the market value of each club in a league would also be a contributing factor, but it doesn't seem to be, at least not explicitly so.How are different leagues on different continents assessed and who by and how are rankings defined, I struggle to take Americans seriously when it comes to football, infact I struggle to them seriously at all.

I’d imagine you don’t get half the abuse in USA as well.Difference with the MLS is they have a sprinkling of really good players but a load of absolute cloggers too.
It’s perfect for Surridge as the standard of the defences for the most part are lower champ/top end League 1.
Honestly made up for the lad as he seemed a really good egg. He’s earning a good whack and is a star over there. Why would he want to come back to probably earn less and play in the Champ when he can be smashing it over there?
I’m surprised more of those top end Champ players who aren’t PL quality don’t end up in other leagues where they can be bigger fish.
You never know though.Always liked Sam but not sure he's got what it takes to score regularly in the Premier League
I think it was one goal he scored that season we came up? Not sure how many minutes he got though so I may be being a bit harsh on him
Those simple, curling sidefoots that sneak just inside the post.Sam is one of the best natural finishers I've ever seen in a forest shirt. It's such a pity that his overall game outside of his finishing we lacked in so many areas.
Generally I agree, but around 10-12 years ago Nashville not only slapped a $10k fine on prostitution, but they also bought in a 3ft law to strip clubs where dancers have to maintain a 3ft physical distance from clients. No chance I’d leave Nashville if I was him unless the money offered by Wolves was dumb.
He’s scoring for fun and I’d rather live in Nashville than nice places in the UK never mind Wolverhampton.
