Two totally different players for me.
Ones got speed, gets up & down & useful on the fast counter given more options for his end product. The others slow & more deliberate, better feet & has a goal in him, but useless going backwards.
If we persevere along current lines of a higher line, then Paterson could fit in & Mendes dies on his arse.
He'd still be a person I'd be after in the future to be honest. Or a player or a similar ilk.
You have to ask yourself the question of players like Mendes; are they suffering from the club's instability and lack of clear identity? I'd say yes. Freedman was more clearer with what he wanted to do for Mendes, and I think he was getting to grips with that. He's had a few injuries which have played a part too for me.

His basically a poor mans antonio with not much end product. Better with antonio as he doesn't need to produce a end product but good as a cheap squad player but realistically need paterson back to back them both up and to have 2 contrasting players

I have said on more than 1 occasion that Mendes is a very poor footballer.
He has the basics there: fast, tricky feet;but he lacks any sort of a football brain.
He would never have got into a Forest side back in the day.

Yeah he's definitely got that vacant look in his eye and 90% of the time when the balls at his feet we see the colourful manifestation of exactly whats going on upstairs ......

Mendes is a quality player for this level. For much of the Season he's been the only player in our midfield who has the pace/skill to actually beat an opponent.

His skill levels are debatable, but he's got lightening speed.
He's the only player to regress with the higher line we play, his great asset was running into free space, there just isnt that space available now we dont counter so much. Unfortunately tighter spaces dont seem to be his strong point.

I think he'd suit this side more than last year.
He was excellent at winning the ball back high up the pitch and IMO his best position was on the left of a front 3, a position we're short in.

Mendes work rate was impressive, just felt the closer he got to goal the worse he became.
Tireless worker, lightning fast, but the higher line Montanier plays would require him to out think the opposition. Dont think that was his strong point personally.
Think swift counter attacking was his game.

Counter attacking was exactly what he tried to play. Not saying it was great but it worked against some sides. Like it has already been said not sure Mendes would suit our current style, although we are crying out for a fast left winger.
Either way if he's getting games for Lile now then it's unlikely he'll be going on loan again.

I agree mate. I think he would do considerably well in this years team. Plenty of players in the box to pick out and support around him.
As a fullback, getting run around for 75 minutes by Oliver Burke the last thing you want to see is somebody like Mendes coming off the bench.
