Sauce salad?
Well yes, but you're still going to do it 3 out of 4 times, just in different ways. It's a bit predictable to always target one player though...especially when most teams will stick their most physical man on him.

Dyche did this with Doucoure at Everton and it proved a masterstroke. Doucoure had never played the position before, was not noted for goals but yet had the ability to make work. Yates has a powerful header, arrives in the box in good situations and could be Forest's Doucoure. What is so great shout playing a player like that as a second striker is how difficult it would make usto greal down.Regardless of exact position he's deployed in, I'd expect Ryan to score a few headers once Dyche has got our set-pieces up to the standard he expects.
In terms of deploying him as a second striker - I'm not sure I have the confidence in his shooting boots, despite the fact he started out a striker in our Youth system.
Just to nail my colours to the mast I don't want Yates playing up front but think he'd give us more in a midfield three than Gibbs White is giving us as a ten currently. This is starting to give me the dreaded memories of Greg Halford playing up front with Billy in charge. I don't remember him scoring many goals and don't expect Ryan to do so either.
The idea of Halford up front did work surprisingly well though, it probably wasn't helped too much by Billy playing Halford up front in the match but had him training as a defender. At the time we did have Darius Henderson who (amongst other things) was actually a specialist target man, but Halford looked as good in that position. I think the players in AM (like Reid, Majewski etc) got a decent return from his hold up play. This is starting to give me the dreaded memories of Greg Halford playing up front with Billy in charge. So would I. MGW has been absolute bog all season - the Spurs incident feels to me that yes although the club managed to persuade him to stay, he's basically soft quit on us because of not getting the move he wanted, which isn't really what we want.Just to nail my colours to the mast I don't want Yates playing up front but think he'd give us more in a midfield three than Gibbs White is giving us as a ten currently.
I'd go Anderson, Luiz, Yates/Sangare at the minute.
I don't think he's soft quit but do think he's struggling. I think the whole team are in fairness, but to get that hard to beat thing back I suspect we need three in the middle. So would I. I've seen pretty much all of our matches this season and he has certainly lost the edge which made him so useful this season compared to the previous three. Whether it's because he is struggling for other reasons (baby, dog, car) or because he's harping after Tottenham, or an other like City, only he will know, but the workrate isn't really there, the output isn't there, he's losing the ball more in silly places trying to do too much or simply because he's making a silly decision... It just appears to be coincidence otherwise that Spurs meet his release clause and all of a sudden he doesn't want it any more and has partially downed tools. But then, him doing that will put them off because it's a similar situation to PvH, Wissa, Isak etc who kick off when they don't get their move and when they do that clubs will obviously fear they will do it to them eventually too. The way he needs to be to get his move is to knuckle down and play well not look completely uninterested and make silly mistakes.I don't think he's soft quit but do think he's struggling. Perhaps Morgan can be one of those, though I'd see if he could play his way back into form down the right at present.
He's bang out of form regardless of why. At the minute it feels like he's being afforded the opportunity to play himself back until form, but is probably doing the opposite.I've seen pretty much all of our matches this season and he has certainly lost the edge which made him so useful this season compared to the previous three. He needs a break to refocus his attitude and ability and get his form back. Give McAtee a chance or go to the Sangare/Anderson/Luiz suggestion for a while.
Your definition of goal threat is scoring goals.
Mine is threatening to score goals.
Fair play I suppose.
He's probably feeling a bit more confident and positive with Dyche in the dugout.Pretty sure he looks like he's stepped up again.
Yates stopped playing because his form dropped, he then never took his chance when he got the chance to get back into the team.No surprise that our form started the downturn last season when we started tinkering with Sangare over Yatesy..
Careful, bringing actual stats into the discussion.Yates stopped playing because his form dropped, he then never took his chance when he got the chance to get back into the team.
He took his chance today & should start against Leeds,
But it is becoming a bit of a myth that our form dropped when he stopped starting regularly.
From gameweek 6-16 he started pretty much every game, we won 6, drew 1 & lost 4.
Over the next 10 games from 17-27 where he started 2 games, we won 6, drew 2 & lost 3.
28-38, he started 3, we won 5, drew 2 & lost 4.
There has never been any correlation between Yates going out the team and results dropping because our good form continued with him rotating in & out the team.
