I feel for Richie. Seems like Nottingham Forest are giving him the same treatment he got from Orlando before he joined Toronto FC. I hope he gets a similar change of fortune whoever decides to take him on, but he should know he's always got a home at Toronto FC.

I think this is similar to Horvath in that he wants to being playing prior to the world cup. It's such a strange situation with it being in November.

Still, could have the same effect. If he plays well it will either benefit our squad depth when he returns, or puts him in the shop window for profit.

We didn't really see enough of him to know how good he really is (or isn't), the one thing I would say is that although he looked good on the ball going forwards I thought he looked very naive positionally when tasked with defending

Definitely a flaw you can't carry in the premier league, and at 27 years old he's not exactly at an early stage of development

I think he was bought in as our Championship replacement for Spence. The player was available for a reasonable fee so it made sense at the time, we just happened to steam through the league like a wrecking ball and ended up in the top division which makes him obsolete for now
...And this is the point-we (the fans) didn't see much of him, so we can't really judge but Coops will have seen plenty on the training field and its hard to draw any other conclusion than he was underwhelmed. Guess that can happen. Its why I worry about Soh, because for all his "potential" hes clearly being overlooked time and again-its quite likely we will be adding 2 further CBs to add to Panzo and it seems hard to see how Soh can get on the pitch...

I think had we not gone up Richie would have played a major part this season. As it is, we need better quality. Shame as seems a cracking fella.

Seems likely he was the Spence replacement if we didn't go up. As we did, we now have to look to better players.

Has Soh been overlooked, or overly injured though? Either way, so far, he's flattered to deceive.

Unbelievable amount of money to spend really in the Championship on essentially a development player. Very poor business it seems at the moment.

For the price we paid for him at that level I'd be expecting him to be one of our best players.

Agreed, which makes me wonder if there is something larger at play with that transfer. Who knows.

He also might just have been a shit-hot prospect who’s been very unlucky with injuries. To be fair against Cov he looked the absolute business.

I know what you mean, a lot of our transfers within a certain period (basically pre-Dane and Cooper) are very suspicious really.

We paid 1m euros for him. No idea where this £4.5m chat came from but it’s managed to make its way onto transfermarkt.com

If the 1m figure is true, maybe there are bonuses and the final amount could end up being 4.5?

Also, (as per MGW, Tagliafico and Vinagre,) this is the Laryea thread discussing Soh's transfer fee.

Happy for us to be paying the £4.5m. It will mean he’s been a success

I was hoping Richie would cut it, but not surprised (with our promotion) he doesn't seem to be in the plans. AS I stated when we signed him, he has two areas of concern, his defensive positioning, and his temper. I would suspect the former is what Cooper had concerns about.

I suspect Laryea was a "should we not get promoted" signing
My thoughts exactly Harv, he was 'Plan B' so to speak.

It would be a rare day that every transfer in a window worked out well.

Given January saw Cook, Davis, Surridge and Laryea, it was a bad outcome even if we have to move him on.

75% success rate is insane for a transfer window. Usually it's fireworks if 50% are decent enough. Dane truly worked miracles.

I just don,t care for the guy, he has been OK in his rare chances to play but he rarely smiles or shows enthusiasm, for me he and doesn't seem to fit in. Seems to look like a deer in the headlights! just my take.

So what the deal with Richie? Odd signing to make and not play. Is he not good enough?
The situation and perimeters have changed significantly since we bought him. We were unsure of the situation with Djed at Boro before he came over and even then he was needed just to ensure we had coverage with some of the threat of Djed. We had no certainty about league we would be playing in the following year. Just a few months later we find ourselves a Premier League club and trying which has quickly reassess if our current personnel is adequate enough.

In the one game where he got a few minutes I didn't rate him. A lot of people were excited by his brief cameo. I just didn't understand why.

I didn't think he was bad, but I thought his positioning was a bit high and he was constantly close to playing himself offside. Consequently, he didn't see much of the ball; 3 or 4 touches in a quarter hour.

Timing/ parameters seem best explanation.
