Nottingham's dirty secret
He looks bloody ideal- very impressive- but would seemingly cost a hell of a lot if he's their captain and recently signed a new contract.

Guess it depends how much we'd be willing to spend on a 30year old.

Feels like the kind of player who would have a starting spot in the Chelsea first team, let alone us newly promoted upstarts - very exciting and shows the regard in which Forest are now held in the football world.

I honestly think that might be going a bit over the top.

I know players don't always play their best in major tournaments (Bohinen was brilliant for Forest either side of WC94 but average in it, Roy didn't do much in that World Cup either and then started on fire at Forest, Rooney in WC 2010 is probably another example) but here are the average ratings from Euro 2020:
This page shows he was highly rated at Atalanta relative to other Serie A midfielders though, but not so much this last season:

Maybe at 7 million Euros it'd not prevent adding a creative playmaker for midfield as well as him though?

I've probably gone on about it too much now lol (and don't want to be over-reacting to getting my hopes up on McAtee and then somehow he seems to be going to Sheff Utd), but I really don't feel a player like this and a striker (and maybe a LB) would be enough. Maybe the first XI would be decent by Premier League standards, but there'd be no great creativity/skill/imagination etc on the bench to bring on, and if Lingard got injured, or if both Mangala and O'Brien were out at the same time we could be woefully short of quality and ideas (and have a lesser team than we got promoted with even maybe). If we're spending around £100m or more, I'd hope that wouldn't happen. Maybe Gibbs-White will still come though and/or Dennis will be signed. I'd guess if we do buy this guy then we would still be able to make a big signing or two, and we have loan options (one from the Premier League, more from overseas) if we could make something good work with those.

Anyway, no intention to be lowering the mood - we all have our ideas/hopes for the team though I suppose, and it's been a long time out the Premier League so I was hoping for some really good exciting football being played by Forest, and comfortable mid-table at worst. Still hopeful of that anyway (and I don't suppose my comments will suddenly change anyone's mind in terms of the Forest staff that matter) - hope it's an enjoyable season back for the fans all round!

Comfortable mid table at worst? With barely 4 players who might, and I mean might be able to compete at this level.

That level of wishful fantasy is 200m+, especially given the vast majority will have never played together before.
