I think you may be thinking of Old Trafford in the FA Cup in the same season-which was equally glorious but

Absolutely, I went to both games. I'm pretty sure it was also raining at Old Trafford when the police kept us waiting ages on the streets due to Man Utd fans causing trouble?

Quite possibly,Rocka-I think the game itself was dry though.I think I avoided any trouble by leaving the
ground the other way as we were parked in Urmston (about half an hours walk away).
I drove home as happy as a pig in s**t.

No,not Urmston,Rocka (I must be going senile!) it was Stretford,I went to the Robin Hood pub many times in the 80s when Forest visited (I think it is sadly now closed).

I met this chap whilst on holiday in Rimini back in 1971. He spent most nights taking us out to bars paying for our drinks. I do have photos, they're on slides, I must get them transferred to paper so I can scan them.

The Wedlock stand at Ashton Gate was a hole ….been a few times, police keep you separated from the home fans until you reach KFC on the dual carriageway then it’s all to play for ……
worse still when you’re parked behind the dual on the industrial estate, you are pushed past a pub ( name escapes me) and it goes off again
