Treviso is a lovely small airport and from East Mids is a doddle (Ryanair). Gets you to some spendid places via a superb local train system all within 90 mins - Venice (of course), Verona, Padua (just returned from a week with friends there - beers referenced in the drinks folder) and Vicenza.
All well worth a trip and no doubt Udine will be worth the trip as well!

Plenty of European railways are like that, even the Scottish railways are reasonable now but Englands decided that privatisation was the way forward and we have ended up with the shit show we have now.

Online booking is excellent though getting them at the station is no challenge through the Trenitalia ticket machines.
Another little tip is that unless you are really time constrained (and maybe for Forest Fans going they will be) it is worth considering the slightly slower "Intercity" trains - they will stop at slightly more place though the cost is significantly reduced - rather than the Italo or Trenitalia high speed options.
Whatever, if you buy physical tickets - don't forget to validate them at the station before getting on the train!

Highly likely to be Saturday giving a full week prep for the County game.
The Italian railways are brilliant.
I worked for a couple of years on a major project supporting some locations of ours in Emilia-Romania, and getting around was so easy, tickets bought cheaply on your phone, and the trains were frequent, clean, tidy, punctual and absolutely reliable.
It was actually much less hassle to get the train, rather than hiring a car.

Think I’m right in thinking the last time we played Barcelona was back in a pre-season friendly in 1983 in Spain on a pitch that had more water on it than grass. Was more like an episode of Its a Knockout than a football match.
After getting beaten all ends up by our Viv, Maradona went on and scored what was to be a pre-cursor of his classic ‘86 goal to make it 2-0, and then as a reward he had the honour of swapping shirts with Kenny Swain.
My favourite moment of this game is when Van Breukekelen frogmarches off some drunken Catalan fella - might be Bernardo Silva’s dad (15 mins in).

I use trains in England regularly, probably about 10 per month throughout the UK and in general it's absolutely fine, the train we caught from Lisbon to Porto for the qtr final was w**k though

Italy? A bit different to when I turned out for Nottingham City boys u-15s in 1963 Notch. I managed to get picked for an Easter tournament in Skeggy. They put us up for two nights in Butlin's. IIRC, the other teams involved were Lincoln boys, The Dukeries and Peterborough boys.

We did the Butlins one too Otis. It's still running to this day it's quite a big tournament now.
Not sure how we wangled an Italy trip but it was great....well up untill I learned what Italian teams were all about and I wanted to knock the block off an Empoli CB

It's good to know about the Skeggy tournament still going Notch. I remember I played two games during that tournament, with one being a bit tasty against the Dukeries (one of my mates from Trent Bridge school who was called up with me managed to get himself sent off for delivering a 'Meadows kiss', resulting in him never being selected again, unsurprisingly). I got picked twice more for the City boys before I left school in 1964. My career went downhill from there.

A question for you then Otis, did City boys turn into Notts Schoolboys or was that a completely separate thing? I never represented City boys as I was from the North of the county but I had heard them mentioned quite a bit.

Not one I can answer with any confidence Notch. We were always referred to as "Notts boys" during my time even though we were officially Nottingham City boys, representing city-based schools. Lads from schools in West Bridgford, Beeston, Arnold, Hucknall and other surrounding areas turned out for South Nottinghamshire boys back then.
