I'm not being funny but what would be the point in Oly buying him and loaning him to us. They are probably closer to FFP limits than us now.

Hopefully they have just got the clubs mixed up again.
This.

Has happened before (more than once.)

I think there are probably better options out there.
Zinckernagel got off to a flying start with us and scored some good goals, and made some good assists.
However, he seemed to lose some confidence after the turn of the year, and while he worked hard, he didn't enjoy the same levels of output.

According to further Greek reports, Beşiktaş have also made a bid, but he prefers to come to us.

Sauce salad?
He'd be a decent option to defend from the front with too when we need that - puts in a shift and relatively dangerous on the counter.

I just can't see the logic in us not getting him if the reported fee is true. Unless he's not happy with not being a nailed on starter.
I have a feeling that is probably the case. He came to us on loan last season as he wasn't getting games at Watford, so perhaps he doesn't fancy being in the same boat again this coming season with us.

Could that be due to grabs getting injured and being shoe hornered into the number 10 position? He did say he played 10 at Watford but preferred outwide

It wouldn’t be wasting a loan. He’d be coming from abroad so wouldn’t count as one of two domestic slots.

I didn't realise the 2 loan players was only domestic. How many are you allowed to loan from abroad? Although if I was Zinc, I wouldn't want to sign for Olympiakos only to then get loaned back to us.

Would have liked us to sign him tbh thought he was good enough for the squad at least and does a good job on either wing and number 10.

We seem to be going all out/relying on signing MGW but I've seen little to justify the confidence that there seems to be that we will get him.

I suppose also sentiment as well because of all of the loanees we had, he seems the most realistic to retain and seemed to enjoy his time with us.

Deserves a starting role and assume he'll get that at Oly whereas he wouldn't here. Hope to see him nail a spot in the Denmark squad for Qatar.

he is expected by tomorrow to Greece to sign and then fly to Austria to find the rest of the team for preseason training

Forest must be confident of an incoming replacement that's an upgrade.

It's a shame - I liked Zinckernagel a lot, and thought he was underrated not only by Forest fans but the Championship as a whole.

Yep Forest must think we can get better. Which is a shame, but he stays in the Forest/Oly network which is good I suppose.

You noticed him more when he wasn't playing. He must be very irritating to play against, not giving the oppo any time on the ball. Unfortunately his creative side suffered as the season went on.

The only reasoning I have for not signing him at that price is we are fairly confident of getting someone better at the '10' position and/or Zink isn't keen being a squad player and we prefer to get more consistent first team football.

Plus he will likely win a few league titles and a few cups.

Probably a bit of both I reckon.

Its a good move for Zincs, I wish him well.

The club has earnt our trust but does just feel like one more player we are gonna have to buy in a very busy summer anyway.

I think it is a bit of a no brainer so seems strange we would let him go to Oly.

But as I say the club has earnt our trust with the excellent work they have done over previous windows. So it is just a case of fingers crossed.
