Did taking the leadership role in advancing Greek football play a part at all?

I'd read the same Corberan stuff as others have. That'd be a decent hire I think. He's probably next in line for one of the bigger championship clubs who have a bad start to the season.

No, that's part of a secondary project, which is ten years too late. Greek football has steadily declined. This is not the place to explain why, but other clubs simply do not offer enough competition for us. I've been banging the drum for a long long while, that we should be doing everything in our power to boost competition and Greek football in general. We didn't, and the result is the complacency that has led to our current problems. Last year we were really terrible, and still we managed to go into the playoffs with such a comfortable lead that losing several matches in the playoffs did not really matter. A club cannot progress in such an environment.

Thoughts?
Bang average I'm afraid, he always seems to start well in jobs but things always seem to unravel after year one. His side's are usually quite leaky at the back and have poor fitness levels

He did have excellent first years at West Ham and Brom so hopefully he can at least repeat the trick for you guys

I think Bilic is a good manager personally, he did way better than the guys that came before and after him at both West Brom & West Ham.

You will get a good year out of him at the very least, but thing that will suit you guys is he is good at getting results against bigger teams.

In 2016 they are probably why Leicester won the league because they took so many points off the top 6. They had the best record in the entire division vs the top 6.

Liverpool 0-3 West Ham
Arsenal 0-2 West Ham
West Ham 2-1 Chelsea
Man City 1-2 West Ham
West Ham 2-0 Liverpool
West Ham 1-0 Tottenham
West Ham 3-2 Man Utd

All that in one season alone.

Think he's OK, seem to remember his downfall at West Ham was linked to them not signing Carvalho which was his only demand after a reasonable couple of seasons? West Brom he did well to get them promoted but in the summer they signed no proven top flight players (Kerlon Grant being the biggest signing) he struggled and West Brom gave him the chop because he basically said that the team he was putting out were not good enough, probably proven right as they still went down.

Seems to enjoy a big reputation but as he is quite open about his opinion on owners and players, doesn't seem like a good match to Marinakis if I'm honest.

They sold Payet in his second year after he went on strike, then they had a bad start and he got sacked

Should be okay with EM, the dildo brothers at West Ham & the shitshow at West Brom are quite a difference to EM.

Bilic is a good coach buts he's a one plan manager and struggles to adapt if his plan unravels.

At West Ham and West Brom, a combination of injuries and teams working him out dodnfor him in the end.

You'll get more benefit from him in West Athens because of your size and competitive advantages.

Bilic is alright when he gets time and control over the team, his West Ham and WBA sides played some good stuff at times. Seems to get a lot out of his flair players; Payet at West Ham and Pereira at WBA so look forward to Carvalho being player of the season!

Given that Corberán now seems to be favourite, thoughts on him?

A good coach but slightly boring style of play. Very much about controlling the game and looking for an opening but doesn't force things.

Tends to favour a defensive 3-5-2 which is effective at stopping goals but not great at scoring them. You could say he tries to grind out results with possession and looks to score from set-pieces.

If you want football with flair, Bilic is your man. If you want effective, modern drilled football Corberán is your guy.

So that sounds like a plan. Corberan until October - November and then Bilic. We may need another one around March though. Any ideas?

I don't like both of them.

Corberan strikes me as the kind of manager who cuts his cloth accordingly, with a better quality squad he might well play better football - much like Cooper with us compared to Swansea.
I agree. Bar a handful of players, the Huddersfield team he took to a play off final was mediocre on paper, they wouldn't have gotten into the top 6 had they tried to play attacking football throughout the season. He did a brilliant job there.

The thing is, come for his teams, his business interests, heck even his physique and Mr M will challenge back and enjoy the debate but woe betide anyone who gripes about a local eatery setting off a few bangers!

Revenge, just like Tzatziki, is a dish best served cold!
