Modesto leaving, Martins has renewed his contract but the truth is that he should improve this season because last one was a kind of making steps back after years of moving fwd. In that sense, there is trust on him and his work but he has the obligation to be more open minded and change things and open the rotation to avoid exhausting the same players that are getting one year older.

We are bringing on board new people. Probably De Sanctis from Roma to take over Modesto's position. Interesting move.

What, are all the pictures I posted of our volleyball and water polo ladies gone now?

This is a big loss for this forum.

You’ll just have to dig them out again.

I know, I know, it’s a hard job - but someone’s got to do it.

She left unfortunately. As did Taylor Agost.

A couple of the reported replacements are excellent (athletes I mean). I will inform everyone.

And just to get this right GBG - does the football club and ultimately EM support (to varying degrees I'm sure) all the clubs/sports that come under the Olympiakos banner - there's volleyball, water polo, track and field, handball, fencing, canoeing, table tennis, boxing taekwondo, kick boxing and more....

Yes, on many levels. First of all, the parent club (responsible for all sports except football and basketball) owns 10% of the football club and gets a percentage of all tickets (including season tickets). Secondly, some of the sponsoring deals are directly brokered by the personnel of the football club. Thirdly, EM personally pays for a couple of high profil transfers on some teams (especially volleyball, waterpolo and handball).

If only all premier League sides would do this in the UK ...

As you may know, the same is true in Germany - most Bundesliga sides have all sorts of departments for multiple sports, all run under the banner of the e.V., which is of course (thank you 50+1 rule) owned by its members.

VfB Stuttgart, for example, as well as football, also has athletics, hockey, fistball, table tennis, and recently, e-sports.

All these are supported by the fees of the 72.000 Mitglieder (club members) as well as commercial income.

It has been tried here, but to say it half-hearted is to damn with very faint praise - as I've said before I played for a time for Manchester United Volleyball when I was an Uni under what they called Man Utd Sport System and they supposedly also supported a basketball team but we never got anything out of it.

I kid you not the only thing they offered us was access to a high altitude training camp in the U.S. but we had to pay for it ourselves. When I played for Radio Trent Rockets in Nottm we had a couple of foreign students join who were bemused that as a National League side they had to pay to join and play for us, they were expecting to get paid by us....

Still finding it a bit tricky to arrive at the last post I looked at on this new layout.

A fine feature of the old forum was the little blue button which sorted that problem. The "new" button on this one shows me a variety of posts I looked at last week or even further back than that.

Still, I'm working it all out and had the pleasure of slowly going through this thread whilst doing so.

I think it only does it once vals. So once you have been on the thread it should jump to the latest post from now on.

Also click on the forums tab, and mark all the posts as read just to clear the backlog.

^^^ That.

I found it helpful to mark the whole forum as „read“, again, then go back in.

An important day for our basketball team. Not because we won the league, but because it was the last game of a club legend, Giorgos Printezis, after 21 years at the club (with the exception of one year he spent on loan and two years in Spain).

One sees less and less players so tied to one club at the top level.
