I must say that I am not quite as over the moon as others here. Before anyone jumps down my throat and calls me negative or unrealistic, I will say this appointment is probably around the most "ambitious" we could have realistically attained for where we are now, and Glasner is clearly a talented coach, so I am not against the appointment per se.

But a lot of what the Palace fan here has said strikes a chord with what I thought about Glasner from the outside. Didn't really pull up any trees in the league with Palace, but was able to deliver runs of form where they looked fantastic (often against the big teams too). This is enough to make him a bit of a darling among the media, who are always looking for the next hot new thing to build up and then tear down.

But despite the media love-in, they often looked quite a poor/mediocre team for me, and for quite sustained periods too.

The obvious thing that OG can point to, and EM has clearly latched on to, is the trophies. As the Palace fan has intimated, if Henderson gets sent off in the FA Cup Final, and Parish reads his emails, then Palace probably exit the Europa League at the QF or SF stage and Glasner leaves without any trophies. In short, he looks like a streaky/cup manager to me.

What I would say in his defence, and probably what EM is thinking, is he actually won those cups, and did so at previous clubs too. And at the end of the day, that's a fact. Nobody in football has much time for the "fine margins" when you lose, so why should we be too bothered about them when you win? As the great Peter Taylor once said - I paraphrase - "the replay also shows we've got the cup, that's the main thing."

Here's hoping he is actually a bona fide winner, and we can stop this managerial churn. Or failing that, very lucky. Same outcome.

Can the fans please get behind him and not create this toxic pressure on any manager in our dugout like last season. We know what he’s capable of and it most likely won’t be instant - TRUST THE PROCESS.

Let’s have it in our heads that he’s gonna be in charge for the next 2 years minimum and not call for his head after a couple of losses.

I think this is what we all want and with OG, there's plenty to get behind, and i don't know about anyone else, but not smelling a rat with him.

But with Ange, and Dyche in particular, a lot of the fans weren't having them from day one (for many legitimate reasons). We as Forest fans, can smell bullshit a mile off, it's always been the case and those two were full of it, so the fans turned quick. Dyche is especially exposing himself with his comment in the media at the moment, christ.

Glasner is the real deal, his record speaks for itself, he's not one of those who lucked out at one club and overachieved, he's done it everywhere he's managed. He's also done it in this country, which is another box ticked. He's won trophies and that's what Marinakis wants.

The only word of caution is that it's likely we're going to shift to a new system which we're not set up for, so we might need August and September to get that and the new recruitments gelled, before we start flying!

Really looking forward to this era and where we go next. And annoying Steve Parish along the way

I was head of the Palace video (media) team during the season Palace won the FA Cup. I was around the training ground five days a week, travelled with the squad throughout pre-season, went home and away to nearly every game, travelled on the team bus and plane, and celebrated on the pitch after Palace won the FA Cup.

I'm not going to go into any behind the scenes transfer details or anything I've seen or heard regarding his relationship with the Palace ownership, as I don't want to be the person spreading information that's meant to remain confidential. So please don't ask me about any of that either.

He's a great tactician. He adapts his team to the players he has available. Yes, Palace played with wing-backs, but that's because it suited the squad. His favourite formation is a 4-4-2.

He's also extremely ruthless when he needs to be. If a player isn't up to his standards, he has no problem sending them across the road to the academy or moving them on. Rob Holding and Sam Johnstone are prime examples of that.
He may come across as a fairly laid-back guy in the media, but he's not someone who takes any nonsense. He's also excellent at delivering pre-match and half-time team talks.

Expect his press conferences to be extremely detailed, sometimes even too detailed. There were occasions where they caused a bit of panic internally because he'd reveal more than people would have liked.
He's also incredibly passionate, very, very animated on the touchline, and it's not unusual to see him sprinting down the sideline to celebrate a last-minute goal with the players.

He's very good at bringing a squad together. There were countless times before a big game, especially when Palace were on a good run, where a BBQ would be organised at the training ground to keep the players relaxed.
He's also very good at getting promising youngsters involved from the academy, whether that's during training sessions or by giving them a taste of first-team football. Off the top of my head, I can think of at least five academy players he gave Premier League minutes to.

He gets heavily involved in training sessions, which are a fantastic blend of tactics and fun for the players. His backroom staff are also lovely, lovely guys. He genuinely has the mindset that any competition his team enters is there to be won. So don't be surprised to hear him talking about aiming to win the FA Cup, the League Cup and even the league. He means it, even if it sounds unrealistic.

There were a few sticky patches in the league where the team went on some awful runs. However, that was mainly down to how small the core playing squad was, a couple of key injuries and you really were down to filling your bench with Academy players, often there were 2 keepers on the bench too. That was all part of his overall frustration at the time.

Also, and this is massively important, he's a genuinely nice man. At Old Trafford, when Palace won 2-0, all of our camera equipment was stolen before the match. Oliver found out after the game, and his first response was to make sure the media team were treated to drinks on him to take their minds off the situation. He's a class act.

Marinakis will give him what he wants, which is backing early in the transfer window so he can assemble the squad he feels is necessary to compete. He worked wonders at Palace and I really think he'll be a great fit for Forest too.

It's funny you should mention his press conferences because after a few I watched i also thought he seems to be giving away far too much detailed information.

I think and I by no means speak for anyone else but there might be a bit of manager and change fatigue with some fans (me included). I hope for the best and I am genuinely surprised that we have managed to get glasner. Hopefully we have nice steady season with some progress. A cup run with and a top half finish would suit me down to the ground but it also wouldn't surprise me if glasner is gone by Christmas
