Irrespective of the team picked, it is almost as if the Forest players have 'The Yips' when playing at home. The psychological mental block (performance anxiety) that affects darts, snooker, baseball, tennis and golf professionals. Rather than affecting one player, Forest seem to have a squad wide condition.

Cloughie would have sorted this problem by taking the team out on a giant pre-match piss up to help calm their nerves and ease pressure.
Kinnear did that and look where it ended up

Tourist, if you get some time, go back and watch the Burnley game highlights. Against teams that let us have the ball, we have no idea that to do with it and we also struggle when the weight of expectation is on us.

I know it's uncomfortable to admit any fault but you can feel the tension at the City Ground in the stands, that absolutely translates to the pitch. I don't know if it is why we lost but I know it didn't help us trying to win.
Oh, I don't dispute the negative effect on the players DB, but its in the cause and effect where I see things reversed. If the players/coach/club gave the supporters reason for encouragement then they'd get that returned, and amplified.
One thing I think we often forget is that supporters aren't some indivisible mass. We're tens of thousands of individual humans bringing our own idiosyncratic aggravations, anxieties and expectations to a match. We all have a shared hope - to see Forest succeed - but the rest is unique and personal. Every single one of us, however, only has so much tolerance or capacity for frustrated ambitions. Cumulatively, we've become so accustomed to Forest self-sabotaging that once those passes start going astray, chances to score are missed, errors lead to goals being conceded, we reflexively recall the same patterns we've seen so many times before. Even on here yesterday many posters, myself included, expressed similar sentiments, "classic Forest," "charity FC," etc., because we've watched the club do it so many times. There's really only one solution to this, and that's for the club to break the pattern.

Forest have always had the propensity to give struggling sides a timely boost.

Off the top of my head-

1969-Sunderland 2 Forest 1
1975-Forest 0 Portsmouth 1
1979-Forest 0 Brighton 1
1980-Bolton 1 Forest 0
1984-Wolves 1 Forest 0
2006-Forest 1 Leyton Orient 3
2015-Forest 0 Millwall 1

I’m sure there are many other examples but it reinforces my theory that Forest are better as underdogs.

There was one occasion, I think under Platt, where we lost to the bottom side twice in successive matches

Are you alright, lmao?

I don't know if you're trying to take the piss but if you think a stadium full of people moaning and groaning, rather than trying to support the team is helping the team win football matches, you might want to take up watching another sport.
Says the man moaning and groaning, Proper mega fan you are. Wish you'd try another sport, for the record I get behind the team when at the games but don't pass myself off as some kind of top fan.

Why are you so overly sensitive? 😭
Being a Forest fan doesn't mean that I cannot criticise the club.

Miss the part where I called myself a top fan, but you won't catch me leaving a Forest game early for anything other than an emergency. I'm also not in the stadium moaning and groaning, contributing to a negative atmosphere.

The atmosphere at the City Ground is bad. It's been getting worse for a few seasons now, it just gets masked when we're winning. It does make a difference.

The reason why I think we do well away from home is two-fold; One, we're actually better without the ball as a team still and Two, there is less pressure. Our away support are incredibly supportive and loud. Definitely the 12th man for us.

At home, they help the opposition.

Don't remember the year but Bassett's Sheffield United couldn't buy a win 2 years running and both seasons it was us they turned over. One year he dressed up as Santa because he wanted an early Christmas present. We had a really good team then too. Late 80s I think.

It was 1990 and 1991-I went to both games and the match in 1990 was a few days before Christmas (we lost 3-2).

Can’t remember where I heard it but some called us “Shit favourites”

And it’s true how many times have we been the favourites in a game and lost? I bet with the bookies at home this season we were faves going into each game Leeds yes as was early season, Spurs yes as they are Crap, Cov yes Bottom of the league.

Won none of them. Away at Liverpool and Villa we would have been outsiders and picked up 4 points.

3 home games in the league as faves 1 point.

Arsenal at home next where we won’t be faves - so 0-0 then? 😂

When's the match day pass being released for Saturday?
I'm intrigued how they are going to spin this one.

Yes-was it Huddersfield and QPR in 2000?

I seem to remember under King Billy and aorund that time we often struggled against the bottom teams but would turn into Prime Barca whenever the top teams turned up. It's like we match the level of whoever we're playing against and we can't possibly play a dogshit team and play at our highest level and wipe the floor with them.

Yes-I remember trooping to Scunthorpe to see us lose under Billeh.

End of the day if we want to better ourselves we shouldnt be losing to teams like this...My thoughts we ran out of ideas yet again.
It was essentially the Leeds opening day game all over. Dominated them, couldn't find the first goal and in the end we make one mistake and they score. We're then throwing ourselves against the rocks trying to find a solution and chase the game.

Having Wood, Delap, Jesus and Gibbs-White up front sounds on paper like you should score a goal. The reality of that is that you lose all your shape and patterns of play.

I didn't notice us really stepping it up after they scored. We were still pedestrian. At least it was easy to get out of BC upper at full time for once

I can't see any mention of the demise of Flagman.
Each home game when I enter the ground the first things I look for are Flagman's 2 flags draped over the UTE front right wall.
I knew we would lose against Coventry for certain when I saw more advertising video screens were flashing their gambling/prostate/etc adverts.
It's progress apparently, when a long standing tradition has to make way for MORE f***ing ADVERTS

Was so happy to be able to watch this but that didn’t last too long. And when the Jesus goal was chalked off you just know it’s another one of Forests finest moments.
The disappointment sits very fooking deep..,,
