After our first win at Villa Park since 1994 we now play their West Midlands rivals at home.

Coventry had been out of the PL about as long as we were and had even been into League 2 during that time before Fat Frank took them up last season, this was meant to be Taiwo's return to the CG until he got sent off and they lost 5-0 today.

Like Villa last week Cov are still goalless this season in the league but unlike Villa they have also lost all their matches where we seem to be finding some decent form after only losing on the opening day. Unbeaten into the international weekend would look good for Glasner considering he doesn't usually start well.

Played for both

I don't expect it to be easy, can see that game against Brighton kick them into massively changing their approach akin to us when we were thumped by Leicester.

Plus we haven't really seen us play a team we would be strong favourites against yet - but a win here would put us in a hugely positive position going into the break.

Does anyone know if Taiwo is playing?

Everybody expects this to be easy, I don’t.
Having said that I still think we’ll win 1-0
Classic "How did that happen?" match. I'm also always wary that runs must come to an end, and it'll be typical for Coventry to score their first goal and get their first point against us. Particularly with Lampard's Derby connection. At least it can't be Taiwo to do it.

Good point - A team has to go to 11 men behind the ball after such a dicking against a team that can't break down a team that sits in coupled with a home crowd starved of good performances. A game where we'll expect to win, could lead to an Everton at home performance levels of frustration.

I'm glad T is banned. Ndoye, MGW and Mcatee will have to work to 1-2 magic around their box for us to score if they do go backs to the wall.

Coventry, just as we did, are finding out how much of a big step up it is between the Championship and the EPL. Their last result should be a kick up the backside for them. We need to be wary and not be disrespectful but all the same I think we are sufficiently capable of beating them. I, for one, wish them well in their endeavours this season, but obviously not against us.

Feeling a bit sorry for Coventry after today. They have a midweek game against Villa in the cup so was hoping they would get something today as they could now easily be going into the very long international break still on zero points and knocked out of the cup. Also a shame Awonyi won’t get an opportunity to play against us at the city ground as would expect the crowd to give him a warm reception.

Why is anyone in the slightest bit concerned?

They can’t defend, they can’t score, and their best striker is suspended; it’s not like we’ve got prime Barcelona incoming.

If we can’t go into this with a bit of confidence then we may as well reach for the Valium.

We will absolutely smash them.

Any game can mark a turning point for a team.
I heard Big T might be absent for this one, something about a 3-match ban?
In Glasner I am starting to trust.
Delap to scare the shorts off their defenders.
Home win.

Gutted but relieved that TA cannot play against us and return to CG.

We have just seen how robust our Mk2 defence is and I dont see Cov scoring against them. After that defeat, confidence building is what's required so I expect Cov to be mega defensive so lots of close play and fizz hard low balls into the box, or draw them out if we can.

I am expecting several goals and think 3 or 4-0.

Must be a starter for Jesus for every reason.

Delap, Jesus, Wood and Diomande to score.

And to top it off, their coach is Frank Lampard.

How many times have we gone into a game over the years expecting to just turn up and be handed 3 points, only to have egg on our face after?

Beware of the wounded animal I think, Lampard will surely change it up to grind out something. This reminds me of when we were getting tonked each week and Cooper played about 7 defenders at the Amex and ground out a 0-0 just to get us going. I think Coventry getting battered yesterday is probably the worst thing that could've happened before our game with them.

I'm not saying they'll come and turn us over but it won't be an easy game at all.
