Interested to see who gets the left back spot today - will give us an idea of how much Toffolo has made an impact in preseason/training in terms of whether he's deed w safer pair of hands than Colback, who I expect to start somewhere... Suppose it also depends on how well we've integrated Mangala.

Taiwo or Surridge? Both have the potential to impact late on so think it's win win - I'd go with Taiwo as a show of 'your my main man now', suspect Coops will give the shirt to Surridge in a 'yours to lose' way. Whatever, in Steve we trust!

Can't wait, though currently hoping I can find a way to watch from holiday land... there's not much here and the internet is shakey!
It will be Toffolo

Cooper saying that Colback is really important for the squad shows his role this season, and I think Colback will take really well to being the experienced mentor to the club.

That being said, look at his performance when called upon in multiple positions last year, still loads in the tank for him!

Just happy to be starting the season in the top flight. Lots happened since then: Millennium bug, tech stock crash, 9/11, London attacks, financial crisis, ISIS, Trump, COVID. Mad. On a personal level its puberty, university, first job, home ownership, marriage, kids since we played a top flight match.

The bench today should look something like:

Hennessey
Biancone
Cook
Colback
Surridge
Mighten
Cafú
Taylor
Mbe Soh

The club has done so well in the transfer market. To replace the players we've needed to, revamp our starting XI and, even with more work to do, have decent options on the bench.

Pfft, show off.

Don’t know why we just dont hand the three points to them now.
They are the best club in the world with the best supporters anywhere in the world. How they have managed to win ten consecutive champions leagues shows they are the best of the best.

Newcastle is the best city in the world and we should feel privileged just to be in the same postcode as them. I Hope our fans are suitably respectful and remember their place in the world.

Colback will start in midfield next to O'Brien today, due to Yates injury and Mangala having only just arrived.
Yeah, that seems most likely.

Think Cooper will want one of Yates or Colback in midfield until O'Brien and Mangala have settled, or until we sign a significant, experienced, upgrade.

Colback will just be told to make a nuisance of himself and then pass the ball to the nearest red shirt

All the very best to you all on this magical matchday morning!!
Safe travels to those going. I feel immense pride and even a little taste of that raw emotion from wembley coming back to me as I write.
The club are 2nd to none in terms of the support their giving the team, staff and clubs infrastructure in general.
After 23yrs this is our day!! Newcastle are simply the hosts for our long awated, overdue return.
I dont care what the score might be, but today, above everything else, is the day the magical Forest came home.

Listening to the radio and viewing the TV this morning proved conclusively that we're back! So much talk of Forest (and Newcastle, of course) put our match very much in the spotlight.

I hope for three points to us, but realistically hope for a good performance and the players giving their all whatever the result.

Someone has probably asked this - so sorry for repeating. Cannot find information that Audio commentary available. How do we get Colin Fray and Steve Hodge - wouldn't be the same without them - especially when Forest score!!!

Well, unfortunately my ticket in the Newcastle end failed to materialise a few weeks ago, but I will still be hanging around the stadium as everyone arrives.

I’ll more than happily help out if someone can’t make it last minute, else I’ll be sitting in the Trent pub with my little AM radio drinking Jakehead all match.
