I'm looking forward to Match of the Day tomorrow evening.

First time I'll have watched it all the way through in a long time. A new era which also reminds me of the good times when I used to watch it.

Just hope cook nd McKenna aren't playing both incredibly slow but I fear Cooper will pick them , Newcastle 3 v 1 forest is my prediction but I'd be very happy with a draw

Hopefully the first of many this year I will have access to watch. Looking forward to it no matter the result.

As long as we don’t roll over for everyone and go for it, as our transfer business suggest, I’ll be happy.

Everyone who is able to get to the games every week , it’s inevitably gonna be a struggle of year. Keep positive. Get behind the team and push them.

Let’s all have a good season.

Most fan-bases are deluded but the Geordies take it to higher levels. My good friend is one and he reckons over 100k applied for season tickets this year(!?!) and that they will finish 4th.

Deluded as ever…Last time I checked you can’t get a ticket for a dog in a pram

Interested to see who gets the left back spot today - will give us an idea of how much Toffolo has made an impact in preseason/training in terms of whether he's deed w safer pair of hands than Colback, who I expect to start somewhere... Suppose it also depends on how well we've integrated Mangala.

Taiwo or Surridge? Both have the potential to impact late on so think it's win win - I'd go with Taiwo as a show of 'your my main man now', suspect Coops will give the shirt to Surridge in a 'yours to lose' way. Whatever, in Steve we trust!

Can't wait, though currently hoping I can find a way to watch from holiday land... there's not much here and the internet is shakey!

This is fucking awesome! Let's just put in a performance today... let's show them we're back!

Henderson
Worrall Niakhaté McKenna
Williams Mangala O'Brien Toffolo
Lingard
Johnson Awoniyi

I don't think it'll all click instantly as we have more to do in the transfer market, but first-game adrenaline will drive us too.

As we move forward into the future and a new era begins for us, don't forget where we've been for 23 years, take everything today in relation to that! Genuinely emotional, what an effort from everyone who's stuck with it over those dark days - we're all long overdue this!

YOUUUUUU REDS!!!

I can’t get over people even suggesting to drop McKenna. He might not be fast but he is by far and away our best defender. Wins everything in the air. Strong in the tackle. Deceptively good feet and passing down the channel

Probably person rather than people, and I imagine it's more about the combination than the individual, in that both Mckenna and Worrall need backing up by pace, which cook is short of.

I don't underestimate Cook though - his positional sense is good and, one rash peno aside, his decision making is quick/good.

I agree, but the statement was ‘just hope they aren’t playing’.

HOPING our best defender is not going to play is ludicrous.
