So, here we are, then. The Premier League, the richest league in the world, and Forest are now a part of it.

How will Steve Cooper’s new-look Reds get on against the moneybags Toon, who nowadays are bankrolled by Saudi oil money?

Since football was invented in 1992, Forest and Newcastle have met eight times in the top division, all in the 1990s of course, and that record saw five Newcastle victories and three draws, so we owe them one, it is fair to say.

Pick your preferred Forest line-up, have a guess at the score, and anything else. You know the drill by now!

YOU REDS!

They don't seem to have done much transfer business so far over the summer, which is a bit surprising given their resources and how close to relegation they were six months ago.

I'm going with 1-1, Forest with an early goal.

They went in for Maddison yesterday, seems like they are doing their business late

Bill Shankly bursts into the dressing room before the game and does the team talk.
Forest are on fire and run out 3-1 winners.
Withe, Robertson and O’Neill the scorers.
Sorry I mean - Surridge, Lingard and O’Brien.
Bob Wilson laughs it off as a one off and says we wont keep it up on match of the day.

I didn’t expect Forest to get anything when I arrived in Liverpool on that glorious day in August 1977-
so it’s a good sign I don’t expect too much next week either.
Alas-Newcastle United 1 Nottingham Forest 0.

Yeah, I saw that. Sensible clubs do their business early on.

I think to be fair to Newcastle every club they deal with is adding 25%+ onto the transfer fee and agents are trying to rob them blind so it seems like they're not just going to pay top whack for players which tends to mean you have to wait until later in the window.

One positive of this of course is they could look quite different on Saturday to how they'll look on Sept 1st. It could be the best time to play them. I'm sure their fans were expecting big signings all summer so are possibly a bit frustrated. If we go a goal up it could cause a but of unrest...

I think it will be the same team that started against Valencia. Think we will lose 2-0 and there will be a realisation that it will take a few games to adapt to the level we now have to play at.
Pretty much what I was going to type. It will be a really tough ask to go there and win.

Newcastle actually ended the season pretty well too so even without a flurry of signings it's a massive challenge.

Would snap your hand off for a draw now but unfortunately I think we'll lose.

1-0 Newcastle

A none cap wonder
0-1.

Newcastle still aren’t a good side and we’ll batter them but only score with a soft goal. Ideally an og by Botman.

Honestly there's fuck all point going into the prem league with a don't lose mentality.

I'm judging nothing what's happened in pre season games....no, they're not a waste of time...but they're about match fitness.

It'll be an open game, and as we're a unknown quantity to our own supporters let alone Newcastle I'mgoing for a 1 nil to Forest. I think people will be surprised how high Forest are going to play up the pitch

I was saying the same at the match yesterday, we are a very aggressive side and think we could catch a few off guard. It won't be easy but I think our style alone will win us points.

Look at Johnson & Taiwo linking up yesterday and what we have seen last season from Johnson / whoever is up top with him. That running in behind will be even more of a threat, no league in the world plays higher lines than the PL.

And you mention pre-season about fitness, I thought we looked very fit and much fitter than Valencia.
