So Sangare, McAtee and Dominguez only midfielders standing if we want to give MGW and Anderson a much needed rest.

Or Jesus/CHO as a makeshift no 10 and give Kalimuendo another start.

Play the U18's!!!

That won’t happen, of course, but players like MGW, Anderson, and Jesus definitely shouldn’t play this match. I’d also prefer to rest Williams, and I take it for granted that we won’t risk Murillo.

Sangare and Dominguez in midfield, McAtee for MGW and Kalimuendo up front. Could Bakwa get som minutes here?

Hard to disagree with much of what has been said above.

I wouldn’t even take MGW, he doesn’t look fit.

John,

Abbot, Milo, Boly, Morato at the back.

Dom and Sangare, Mac in front of them.

CHO and NDoye on the wings, Kali up front.

Anderson, Neco, Murillo should not be anywhere near the pitch unless something dramatic happens but they should travel. Savona, Jesus and a couple of kids to make up the bench.

Notwithstanding Bakwa and Zinc, who should be on the bench if they are fit enough as they need minutes. It’s just hard to comment given how f***ing vague the injury updates are.

Sad that we probably have to play such a makeshift team but the game against Spurs is so important :(
Exactly the side I would pick, and say "Go out there and show me why you should be starting on Sunday"

We have so many Injures now in key areas we need to protect the players that we do have fit Sunday is another massive game, we only have about 13/14 fit 1st team players currently and this side should have enough to get a result against a poor Utrecht side

I'd also not even take Anderson, MGW, Murillo or Williams and tell them to stay home get rested up ready for Sunday, as much as I want to see us progress in Europe. The League matters more.

Can’t see us winning this. We’re losing bodies faster than we’re gaining them, and our A team and B team are both starting to look the same. Utrecht are not Malmo or Graz. They’ve not been out of their depth against other sides in this tournament and they beat Ajax domestically recently. I don’t see us rocking up to their place with a part-time side and winning. We really do have little choice though but to make 5 or so changes.

John (for continuity now, I’d prefer Sels)
Abbott, Milenkovic, Boly, Morato (though it’s absurd that we’re left playing that back 4 in games we’ve waited 30 years to play)
Sangare (these are his games, not Everton) & Dom
Ndoye, McAtee, CHO
Kali

Edit: reading back I seem to have added nothing to the debate with this post or this line-up 🎉

We should win this one relatively easy. Y'know, like Midgetland. It is looking increasingly like a Cup will be our only salvation this season. A top four or seven finish is still possible, but it fades when we play like we did Saturday. If we want to keep our top young talent, we have to either win a cup or get into the top seven. So, these games take on an added importance, all things considered.

We're going to have to keep rotating for the Europa League games so long as we're within touching distance of the drop. It's what we bought all those players in the summer for.

I think it’s fair to say there is some apathy toward this game given the last performance and the injury list. It’s a shame but the reality of PL being so high priority.

They are not a good side, so don’t expect us to lose but it may be tough to break them down.

Urgh. We're looking light for this one, aren't we? I make it 10 outfielders ineligible and/ or injured (including Bakwa short of fitness, although minutes here could be great for him). Bleating about it won't help but it's a pretty significant contrast to last year!

Take your pick for goalie then it's Abbott, Morato, presumably Milenkovic and A.N.Other depending on whether you trust Boly (I don't anymore, much as he has been great in the past) or risk one of the usual fullbacks.

In the circumstances, Sangare surely plays. Would rather him rested before Spurs but then he's off to AFCON anyway and needs must. Dominguez plus McAtee to complete the midfield.

We need CHO back on form, which seems a long time ago, and you'd imagine Kali starts (with Jesus wrapped in cotton wool). Last wing spot? Bakwa minutes would be great if he can contribute but otherwise we've literally only got Ndoye as an option on the other flank.

I've not said anything here which hasn't already been said but it just shows how stretched we are at the moment and how badly we need some of these injuries to clear up ASAP.

Seems like there’s a fair consensus as to the sort of team we’d like to see starting this one with the game against Spurs taking on even more importance since the weekend’s results. Certainly, several of our ever present players are looking tired and leggy and need a rest. I’d start Ndoye and CHO & give Bakwa 25+ minutes to see how he does. Maybe he’ll be ready contention for the bench for the Spurs game? McAtee & Kalimuendo have to start and play themselves into some form. Zach looks ready for these sorts of games and maybe Sinclair could also get some minutes. If so, they’d also be gaining the experience that would put them in contention for the FA Cup game against Wrexham.

I know very little about what Utrecht have to offer, but surely we have enough quality (even with all our injuries & tired players) to win against a team who have just one point from their first five games in the competition? If we do, that would take us into the top 8 places and things will look a lot better than they did after the first two games at the start of the season.

It's still very unlikely a win would put us into the top eight as they're all playing teams down the bottom of the table as well. Except Midjytlland who are playing Genk, in ninth. I expect a win would all but guarantee us a playoff spot at least however.

Other than Milenkovic and CHO, you could say that's exactly why we spunked best part of 200m this summer. To have a 2nd XI good enough for some of the many games this season.

Time to stand up and be counted, you softies.

Be good to see McAtee really have an impact, can't keep carrying him as a passenger on the bench in the league when we're in an injury crisis.

Perhaps 45 mins each for Bakwa and Sinclair to give NDoye a rest.
He really needs to step up and grab the chance if he's presented with it.

I wouldn't expect a dominant performance - he's not that type of player - but a few key passes and assists would do just fine.

You know he had a few decent passes against Malmo but I would like to see him quite a bit more involved. Surely this team is better than that Malmo team so we’ll need more about us this time around.

Is it not time for a bit of Mike Bassett 4–4-f***ing-2? Id like to see Igor Jesus and Kalimuendo start together, maybe this is the game to test it out.

Gibbs White looked like he was running through treacle against Everton, surely he isn’t fit. Leave him at home for this one.
With our luck they both tear their ACLs.
