People said similar things about Daniel Farke and then last season he kept Leeds up
 
Parker is also a bit different in the sense of every time he leaves a club they get significantly better

Norwich post-Farke have been dreadful.

So had Farke, there was a spell where Norwich was one of the teams bouncing between the PL and the Championship similar to how Burnley are doing at the moment.

Parker was given the Fulham job when they were in the relegation zone under Ranieri in Feb 2019 and ended up getting relegated. The next season they won the play offs, and then he was sacked when they got relegated again.

He took Bournemouth up (along with Fulham and us) the next season but then didn't last a month in the PL, they lost 4-0 to city, 3-0 to arsenal and 9-0 to liverpool before they fired him (but then, that same season as a promoted club, we had some heavy defeats too and still stayed up, and also struggled early on). It's hard to say if Parker would have been able to improve things - the comment I think he made about the players being rubbish probably wasn't going to boost any confidence or help him really, so probably not

After a very average spell at Brugge he ended up at Burnley and again took them to a promotion/relegation double straight away.

So basically, he's had 3 seasons in the CH and got promoted every time.
He got Fulham relegated as caretaker when they were going down anyway, and then again after taking them up, likewise at Burnley. He left a Bournemouth team who ultimately stayed up after under a month in the PL.

I don't think anyone last season was expecting Burnley to stay up. They were over 20 points from doing so, and were in the relegation zone from mid October, when they'd already recorded 3 of their 4 wins. But on the other hand they didn't really have any quality to make it either, so another manager wouldn't have made much difference really.

I don't think he's shown anything yet to say he can be a PL manager but then he hasn't really had the players to show that either (and probably won't get the chance).

The thing with Farke at Norwich is they spent no money whatsoever when they came up, he didn't stand a chance and were destined to go straight back down. Then weirdly Norwich sacked him when he was exactly the manager they needed to take them straight back up.

Sample size is 2 though

Fulham went for Silva after Parker took them down again, with a squad that had 1 promotion and 2 relegations in the 3 seasons before, and a manager with proven top flight experience they went back up and stayed there. But he was also able to keep hold of a lot of the players which also helped.

Bournemouth were already in the PL and O'Neil managed to keep them up then they went for Iraola, the fact he then ended up at Liverpool shows that again they went for a much better manager than the one they'd replaced.

Burnley - well who knows. If they don't get promoted under their new manager would Parker have managed that?

Norwich were in the PL when they sacked Farke and chose to replace him with Dean Smith, which was clearly a sign of giving up. They did reach the play offs with David Wagner (who managed a feat in getting Huddersfield in the PL and keeping them there for a year) but then sacked him after doing so. Another case of the yo-yo ending and making the wrong decisions, happens to plenty of teams, including us when we appointed Platt then Hart then Kinnear then Megson and went down again.

It was a bad decision which they then compounded with more bad ones.

It was like when we sacked Bassett and gave the job to Big Ron who had no desire to manage anyone after that season, when he would have been the best manager to put together a promotion challenge the year after, especially when we had issues which were off the pitch (including the player sales and who he was able to bring in) and we weren't really in that position due to his management.
 
Yes and I think it was expected that would be the case when we hired him. He was simply brought in to try and keep us up and failed dismally.

I still love Bowen to come to Forest, to be honest. I'd much sooner see him playing than Ndoy
