Can't help but feel sorry for the women's team. Try should be getting a decent crowd down at the CG for their promotion party but we'll all be down at Wembley.

It's a shame.
It’s a shame they can’t ask to move it to the Saturday, might get a few more down to watch it.
I remember a game being moved ‘cos of a rugby league final a few years ago so it would seem like a reasonable request.

I think they have the usual rule that final league games all have to kick off at same time.

Yeah, they will be going for promotion again. Unbeaten this season with a trophy.

The Championship is difficult though as there is only one promotion slot (no playoffs either) and a few others like Birmingham & Newcastle who are putting money in like us.

They are trying to get the WSL to become a closed shop MLS style, so we will be trying to get there as soon as possible. Especially now woman's teams are worth £300m... according to Chelsea anyway.

I thought I’d read (probably here) that they were only temporarily suspending relegation in order to increase the number of teams, after which relegation would still apply?

Wow. Not sure if others have seen this story that broke tonight. After a brilliant season pushing Forest all the way for the title it turned out the Wolves hierarchy had been lying to the players all season and they had no intention of being promoted even if they had won the league. Absolutely shocking stuff. Potentially the end of Wolves Women I'd say. How can any of their players trust the club again and why would anyone else sign for them? Unbelievable.

It also raises the ire of the rest of the clubs in the league. I can imagine the big man would be really pissed off if they snuck ahead somehow and we got denied promtion.

Ouch!

I went to the Forest v Wolves game in Feb, the excitement for all their players and staff when they scored their equaliser (and gave them a bit of a chance of the league title) was obvious.

Yep, that's correct.

There's no (public) suggestion of it becoming a closed shop - indeed the league chief has publicly said it'll "never" happen.

That's a disgrace. You have to feel for their players who have been used as nothing more than a PR exercise by Wolves. To have no intention of actually competing is unacceptable.

So Forest could have finished second and still would have been promoted.

Putting the fact that Wolves didn't make the application for promotion, what bemuses me is, what the hell did they expect to achieve by telling the players at this point? They had missed out on promotion so surely they would've been better off keeping schtum.

Absolute PR disaster and one the team will probably struggle to recover from. That's probably going to be the end of them.

Whilst we were celebrating promotion of the women from League North, my local club Ipswich Women were celebrating promotion from League South.

Much noise about it on the local TV trying to offset the relegation of the men, I suppose.

The one common denominator in women's football is that the goalkeeping is horrific at every level. Womens/gitls bodies just aren't shaped or have the physiology to do it.

I speak from a place of having two daughters that play at pro clubs albeit one is 15 and the other is 7.

The goals in the women's game need to be made smaller. The funny thing is that the 14 and 15 year old boys don't play on full size goals yet those lads are in the most case the same size as women but most are already bigger, yet they put the women in full size nets. I firmly believe that the only reason the FA won't reduce the goal size is because it's almost an admittion that the women's game is inferior to the men.

Hate to sound a bit cynical, but would it be possible to offer a couple of their better players a professional future with Forest?
Their best forward came from Forest!

Having struggled against Championship opposition in the Cup, I'm sure Forest will be targeting a higher level of player if they are to compete.

I''ll tell you what the goals at Wembley definitely need to be a few iches bigger.

Yes, I couldn’t believe what I read about Wolves yesterday: either utter incompetence or malice.

Poor Wolves women’s team - shocking. They worked so hard to achieve promotion when their own club had stabbed them in the back.

I just watched these highlights and by gosh you are right lol.

Some of the goalkeeping was just bizarre. The West Brom keeper seemed to want to run to where the ball was going instead of diving.

I watched the highlights reel... when I was a kid, i thought there was nothing funnier than Keystone Cops.
