Neco Shay Williams of WALES

I'm just hoping and praying he doesn't get a yellow card (or get injured) on Saturday as my son is going to be a mascot against Brighton and wants to walk out with him as Neco is his favourite player.

.....lumps on Williams to get booked.....

Think Anderson will end up POTS but this guy man, UNSUNG.
He's my POTS so far. Even in the games we lost or were poor Neco was still the player that could come out with his head held high. He's covered both full back positions, there's never any drama with him, he just gets on with things and he's become one of the best 1v1 full backs in the league.

He's one of those players that as a manager you would try and sign at every club you manage as a trusted soldier, a bit like Warnock did with some players.

A latter day John McGovern type.

I’m watching the game for the first time, and just wanted to say how great Neco was, trying to carry on defending in the penalty area after being winded / hit by the ball in his unmentionables.

I’m told the pain can be quite substantial 😉 so well done and thank you Neco for showing your dedication to the Forest cause. ❤️

It wouldn't be a Neco performance if he didn't get winded, punched, assaulted & have the ball blasted in his face.

The mentality of this lad! Salah had him on toast in the first two or three duels but he dusted himself off and proceeded to pocket him for the remainder of the match and delivering a wonderful cutback assist for Savona. There isn't a more consistent fullback in the Premier League, pure heart, desire and tenacity.

To think we all thought that buying a Liverpool reserve for £17m was a bit pricey!

Unbelievable again. Very unfashionable to pick out an old fashioned type of full back as a top performer but I'm happy to do it. Still my player of the season so far. I'd be amazed if there's not other clubs eyeing him up and a slight concern with the full back situation at Liverpool is that they could be one of them and probably the one club that Neco would be tempted by given his history.

Doesn't seem the type to make a fuss or force a move. I reckon he's here for the long haul. Fingers crossed anyway.

His transformation has been phenomenal really. For his first two years here I thought he was a liability and a waste of money. Now he's the first name on the team-sheet for me and seems an absolute bargain. Totally reliable.

What is hugely underrated by us is his ability to play either side to exactly the same quality.

Even if you think there is a fullback better than him in this league, the chances are they won't be able to play both sides as comfortably.

Ironically, closest is probably Aina which is bizarre!

With the progress being made by Savona (2 goals already) what happens when aina is finally fit?
I know Aina is 2-weeks away, and should be just about up to speed for AFCON, but if ana is ready for the Brighton game, do you drop Savona or tell aina he has to be patient?

I think you rotate the three game by game. They are all excellent and two can play both sides.
I think 3 becomes 4 when the Brazilian left back ends his loan spell with Botofoga.
Rotation is a double edged sword: good teams are built on solid defences, with as few changes to those back lines, changes contributing to instability.
However, getiing the 4 full backs all playing to the Dyche Plan is a positive when injuries and suspensions disrupt things.
There is the issue of how rotating full backs impacts on the 2 central defenders... I don't have the football brain to cope with these nuances!

And me back hurts!

Three only becomes four in January if we get rid of two - Zinchenko, if we can, and A N Other.

Aina can’t play until January as he’s not named in the PL Squad

Yes, I do know that.
My question was hypothetical.
I’ll make it easier: come January, if Aina is fit and Savona has continued to make good progress, do you drop the Italian Stallion, or tell Aina to sit on the bench?

So let me get this straight. Aina goes off with Nigeria gets a bad injury is out for all the proceeding games for his employer and comes back in time to play for Nigeria again.... Hmmm....

Just 1 booking away from a suspension, need him to stay locked in
It's highly likely he'll get a ban because he has until match 19 to not get another and that's 5 more matches in a position where you have a lot of tackling to do.

Would rather have him for the next 2 and lose him for the City game
Yes it's a case of timing sometimes. I notice there is quite a lot of players on 4 in the PL now including Donnarumma, wonder if he'll get his 5th in time to miss our match. We'd probably stand more chance against citeh with Trafford in goal

If he gets a yellow for a mistimed tackle, or even for a professional foul to prevent a breakaway goal, it is part of the territory.
If he gets a yellow for removing his shirt to celebrate a goal, or for kicking the ball away, or for chopsing off at an official, then it should result in a significant fine, and donation to charity.
