Moussa Niakhaté

Niakhate was ok.
Like Mangala, he isn’t good enough for a top 10 Premier League side.
He just wasn’t physical enough, and he always seemed to have a mistake in him.
Yeah I agree completely, Niakhate was a good player but you just knew a mistake was around the corner. I think Niakhate in particular has been made to look ordinary compared to our current 2, but he was definitely better than the ones we were promoted with. His throw in's kept us up no doubt about that.

I think Mangala was top class at ball retention and not much else, in a side that doesn't prioritise keeping the ball he couldn't impact games - even stranger he is now playing under Dyche!

To be fair he wasnt that good really and constantly injured. Yes he was probably a marginal upgrade on Worrall and McKenna but given that he hardly played maybe not. Miles behind what we have now. The deal we did with Lyon was incredible.

Good throws though I'll give him that.

Aw. He got some stick while he was here (mainly the biscuit thing which was a myth) but I always liked him and he seems like a lovely human being. I'm delighted for him.
Yes, always nice to see our former players do well. He was a part of the team which secured our PL status in the first season back, when there was no way we weren't the worst team in the PL.

I think he did spend a lot of time injured but that wasn't how it was before he joined and from recollection it wasn't the same injuries so the biscuit thing is probably a bit unfair, although he did make a fair amount of errors which led to goals, but then, even in that aspect when you spend a lot of time parking the bus and being attacked by the other team it means there is more potential for defensive errors than if you're not defending as much.

That was one bad injury. Apart from that he had a freak elbow injury sustained in pre-season that kept him out for a few weeks, and was fit apart from that for us.
Agreed, but the serious hamstring with us was not the first time a hamstring problem had affected him. He also had time out in 2021 with a less serious strain.
I liked Moussa - was a step up from Michael Mancienne in terms of physicality, but still a bit lightweight at the heart of defence.
