Whilst he had a beneficial short-term impact, the long term damage he caused wasn't worth the aggro... without re-opening the pointless 'did Hart deserve to go' debate, I do think that we could have, and should have, appointed a more sensible long-term option at the time with the same short-term benefits.

Agree with that, even though other managers we've had (Megson and Platt) did far more damage then he did).

It would not surprise me though if he had a good short-term impact on Newcastle though. Alan Shearer did sum up his appointment quite aptly stating if he'd named 500 potential candidates Kinnear wouldn't have been on the list lol

Megson was far better than Kinnear.

Megson managed to clear out a lot of dead weight and is a reason why Calderwood has been able to take us on a small step forward.

Megson cleared out a lot of dead weight- Impey, Taylor, Rogers, Robertson etc.

But he also replaced with equally shite players- Padula, Eaden, Powell, Curtis, Cullip, Dadi, Dobie- most of whom were on decent contracts and were a huge drain on club resources.

Megson did very little to move Forest forward, garbage signings barring a few (Bennett, Clingan, Tyson), terrible defensive football which lead us to our lowest position EVER, alienated the whole dressing room with his bully boy management style and was generally useless in every sense imaginable.

He is without a doubt the worst ever manager this club has ever employed.

Awesome? How? In my view having listened to the whole interview on the Mirror Site it shows what foul mouthed scum he is. It also shows exactly why he has not had a job since us and is unlikely to again after this charade is over. The world of football lives and dies on the word of the media. If he was so experienced and savvy he would know that. They will destroy him.

As is usual with him, he enters in a flurry of abuse waving papers around and trying to bully everyone. Then when challenged he does not actually have the article to hand when the guy states he is misquoting him. He also does not have the other papers handy either! He is then challenged on other facts and is again proved wrong when he is shown to not even know that Newcastle had announced him as manager only until the end of October. He cannot even withdraw gracefully when the hacks offer to draw a line instead starts ranting all over again about the same thing he has just been proved wrong on. Then when the Club Press Secretary asks the hacks to regard the matter as off the record he asks them to print it!! How much did that take off the price Mr Ashley? What other employer wants that?

He is stupid, a dinasour from a past age who has no place in modern football alongside press savvy, agent savvy and money loaded players and managers.

Not one player that I have seen has come out and supported him and asked for him to be given time. His masterplan is to state that he wants the likes of Michael Owen to replicate his rant at the other players in the dressing room. Can you imagine that?

So sorry in my eyes it is far from awesome unless you mean awesomely stupid and the only legend he will become is a bad one. He made us a laughing stock with his antics and he has done it at Newcastle before even his first game.

I think that's why I've decided I like him.

This vulgar outburst is a fitting summary of how small 'Big Joe' really is.

He is a caricature; fighting to stay afloat in a world that has completely left him behind.

Kinnear has often taken the stance that his record and his stature render him untouchable, but his inevitable decline over the past decade could not stand him in any greater opposition to this viewpoint.

His distasteful tirade, which essentially took place during a conversation between two professional adults, is a slur on football's image and yet another hammer blow to Newcastle United's subjugated reputation.

I've heard people refer to Kinnear's explosion as 'the passion Newcastle need'.

This is not passion. This is an incompetent, beleaguered bigot resorting to bully boy profanities in the face of fair criticism.

It's typical of Kinnear; it's fashion passion, an ostentatiously brash barrage and - ultimately - a failed attempt to stamp authority that simply doesn't exist.

I just read the whole thing on the Guardian website. It's pretty disgusting that he thinks it's the right way to deal with the media. I'm not saying the media are blameless, but you just don't start your relationship with them this way.
It's another nail in the Coffin for Newcastle.

Look I ain't know Kinnear fan and there are ways in which to conduct yourself but would you just take it when some media twat makes up a load of shite about you i.e. how you have worked with Dennis Wise previously and all that shit. Do you think Ferguson/Wenger etc. would put up with that? Man Utd would have called in the lawyers by now which is what Kinnear should have done but he dealt with the working mans way of dealing with it and as much as I dislike him - I respect him for that.

As an aside I see fat Joe has started talking about his mate Wenger again heard that somewhere b4 evening post anyone?

Kinnear's main gripe was with a banal headline about the Newcastle players being absent on his first day at the club. Which they were.

The copy he took issue with contained nothing even remotely fabricated. Kinnear's lawyers will be thanking him warmly for paying them to read the morning's tabloids; they won't be doing anything else.

Other managers have had poorer receptions and continued to carry themselves with decorum, Kinnear simply isn't the kind of man to take anything on the chin.
