I’m I the only one who thinking why the hell are we wasting money on this guy unproven in the premier league

Because he proved himself in Steve Cooper's Swansea squad and he's highly rated elsewhere.

He was also part of the England U17 World Cup winning team that was managed by Cooper.

This means he's Cooper-ready, which is invaluable in the current environment.

I’d honestly rather use the cash on Garner and Davis if both are available, the sums of money quoted for MGW are nuts.
Not so sure about Davies (unless the price is very reasonable) but for sure I think our biggest concern has to be central midfield based on todays game at least. I think we are crying out for a big, ugly experienced central midfielder who isn't going to be intimidated by a hard press and will handle the pace and physicality of the prem. I also think we are very lacking in players with experience of the prem and that needs to be addressed. If we are spraying 30M+ around on a single player I'd be looking at that before MGW, who I'd have for sure at 25M but the prices we are up to now are stupid

None of our opinions matter on the starting XI, style of football etc. Should we not discuss them either?

You can discuss what you want, but I’d suggest telling Cooper who to pick would have the same amount of influence as telling Marinakis what to spend on MGW

So you won't talk about finances, formations, strategy, selection etc. What are you prepared to discuss on a football forum?

I'm assuming those who say finance in football doesn't matter weren't the ones trudging to away games in League One after the collapse of ITV Digital and us having to sell our best players to balance the books?

And that was pre-FFP rules too.

Derby fans had been ignoring people warning them about their finances for years, and look how that turned out for them.

With the huge numbers involved, finance is a huge part of football discussion nowadays. I don't think paying £30m for MGW will tip us over the edge or anything, but you can understand why people might have reservations about spending that kind of money on an unproven player.

Have to agree re the big ugly midfielder. Yates will help too when available again, he'll get his foot in. Carvalho would have been good. Garner too obviously.

Long slog ahead, my wish is that we stick with Cooper no matter what for the long term, assuming he's willing to sign a new deal.

Agree with everything but Carvalho. He would have been even worse in the prem. the added pace and physicality would have meant even more games would have passed him by than in the C

You’re not displaying a great level of reading comprehension here. I’m not going to keep explaining it to you

No one thinks LTLF is a hotline to the NFFC board room, some people just like musing on the financial mechanics of the game, and there is some good theory / analysis on this forum along with the inevitable guff - it's interesting to some, those uninterested can always scroll on by.

Who is saying it doesn’t matter? I haven’t seen anyone say it doesn’t matter to the club at all.

And yeah I was there, home and away.

What.

right I’m done then, if Dane isn’t looking at everyone of my posts and discussing them with the big guy before making any decision then what’s the point.

This is a football forum so, believe it or not, people should be allowed to discuss the club's finances and debate whether we're getting good value for a prospective player.
As I pointed out when we dropped into League One, it impacts onto the fans and so it's a valid viewpoint for the supporters.

A football forum?

I‘ve been here for 19 years, thinking it was just about inevitable guff. And squirrels.

I want my money back.
