Don’t give up Forest, MGW will kick off after their game

He is a wanted player at a rival club, it was never going to be easy

He's worth whatever they demand? Brilliant! My house is now worth £2.5m in that case!

Not sure housing market is a very good analogy in this case but essentially if you owned a house that had a market value and someone knocked on your door offering it but you didnt want to sell, you wouldnt. Its your house, your prorogotive. Much in the same way you can market your house at whatever price you want, irrespective of market value.......whether someone is willing to pay it is another matter.

I'd rather us spend 30m+ on a top striker
No point if we have no creativity to get the ball to a striker.

Is 35m (total deal) over priced? Yes it is on the face of it. However, you can see why we’d spend that - set piece taker, great delivery, highly creative, these are all skill sets we are lacking so he could be invaluable. Couple that with the fact he is young, versatile and Coops knows him. Makes it easy to understand.

I don’t think it is as simple as saying we could spend 30-40m elsewhere. Those players that are worth that are either already at an established club / playing European football or have their sights set on a much bigger step up. That and it’s highly likely there will be much stiffer competition for that player.

We have to be pragmatic about the pool we are shopping in.

Collymore!

Thankyou Steve!
We'll get another striker too, I believe these two/three signings are our 'biggest' outlays.

£60m+ on two/three more players. Total initial spend £120m. Aligns with EM's comments on support and spending. In line with FFP over a three-year period.

Come on 40M is just getting stupid.
I’d have hoped we had an alternative on the list in case of this sort of codswallop from Wolves.
I honestly don’t think we can afford 35 let alone 40 and whilst he might be worth 50 in 2 years if he plays out of his skin consistently and doesn’t get injured it’s like backing a horse before it’s run at the top level just because it had a too sire-in other words a bloody lottery
I'm not hazarding a guess what he's worth. I'm letting our football people judge and our money men decide.

I think that's how you do it.

It could be as simple as they REALLY don’t want to sell.
I think with 2 years left on his contract he may be worried about coming out in the open asking for a move-if for whatever reason the move breaks down he’s then in the shit.
Yes, and all the more so if they get a couple of players crocked early on and need to buy quickly in what remains of this transfer window.

Pants truly down if we are paying what wolves wants for their reserves player ?
Pants down if MGW plays 5hite for Forest.

Money well spent if he helps Forest win games and keeps Forest in the Premier League.

Agree with this.
I’ve said elsewhere that I think the money being quoted is well excessive (but isn’t everyone in this window?) but the number of top quality options to a promoted side are limited so if MGW is keen on the move and he is SC’s #1 target we should maybe push the boat out and do what we can to make it happen.

Except he isn’t a reserve player. Wolves have offered him a new contract, has played in the team during pre season and could likely start for Wolves this weekend.

the key word here is 'could likely start', not confirmed starter , not key player , in over 40 plus games he has played for wolves , he has scored a solitary goal , hardly the stats of a 50 million premier league game changer.

He was a kid tbf, if BJ has a disappointing start to his PL career will you write him off too?

I agree 50m is ridiculous but there will also be an element of posturing.

Bit of water under the bridge since his Wolves appearances. Why do you think he's Cooper's main target?

But it’s not pushing the boat out-that implies paying a little more. This is 50M FGS it’s the majority of last years turn over
It’s easy to look on the bright side and say he will be worth X (although I doubt he’ll ever be worth more than 50) but what if things don’t work out as we hope this year?

We aren't going to pay 50m

Only read afterwards that they are “asking” for £50M.
Obviously we’re not going to pay that and nor should we. Smacks of posturing and playing to their supporters. Interesting to see how it pans out if MGW puts in a transfer request
