Do not agree one bit. MGW is quality, 12 goals and 10 assists, mostly playing from a deeper position. That is a crazy output and just watching him play his quality stands out by a mile.

He is as good as Johnson, I don’t have any doubts about that.

And most importantly Cooper loves him.

I rate Gibbs-White highly, I'm just not sure if we should spend a flat £20m on a player unproven at the top level in our first season in the Premier League. It's a big risk.

This is what I think too, to be honest I'd feel a bit meh about getting MGW, He isn't proven PL quality and we have enough of that already, Tbh I don't think he's much better than Johnson if at all, either.

They're obviously costly but I'd like to see more effort at an out and out goalscorer, since Grabban has struggled with injury all year and never really made it in the PL anyway, Davis isn't ours, and good as he's been Surridge can't either do it alone and might not be as good at the higher level anyway.

I'm not saying I don't rate him, I'm trying to explain difference in price expectations.

People are gonna have to get used to crazy fees now. The downside of having Premier League money is everybody knows you have Premier League money. We will need to be smart but we will be paying Prem tax on every player now, the value of player quality skyrockets between what's good for the Champ & Premier League.

I think the best option is to target young players from the EFL, older experienced players from the PL & players approaching their prime from abroad. That way I feel like you get best value for your money.

We don't need to pay PL tax if we're the only one bidding for a player. Just because we have money doesn't mean we can be extorted. We will walk away from deals if the price isn't right.

As well as the MGW story there's also the story of us buying Zinckernagel for £2m and Goldson for free. We're going to be smart with our transfers.

Three things:

1) BJ has a better output rate in terms of goals and assists, and has electric pace that you can't teach.
2) BJ slammed his penalty home in a high profile game, MGW did not. One dealt with the pressure.
3) The Forest side was built around playing to BJ's strengths. MGW didn't even play for Wolves for most of the season.

The only argument Wolves have for wanting the same money as we wanted for BJ is because they're an established PL side and £20m to us (then, anyway) was a lot and £20m to them isn't so much, so they can afford to be more demanding.

1) actually no. BJ = 0.57 vs GW = 0.59

2) BJ was anonymous in the final, GW dominated us in the second leg

3) GW made 37 appearances this season I'm the championship. I'm not sure where you are getting your statistics from but they are wrong.

You're right that we did set up for BJ and GW still marginally out performed him from generally a much deeper role. He'd be a clear upgrade on Zinc and compliment BJ, both in terms of creativity and offering a second threat, something both we and BJ need.

I personally think £20m is a bargain. I highly doubt Wolves will let him go though, he's basically their brightest young talent

It shouldn’t be about whether MGW is better than BJ - but can they compliment each other and fit in the same team.
IMHO we should be playing BJ further up as a Premier League team with MGW linking up with him as a #10.

Agree, I'm not thinking about it as a replacement but to complement BJ, certainly together would be great

The only player I've seen this season make our defenders look like clowns and he's a midfielder playing a makeshift striker. Also he didn't tire in extra time despite running for 120 minutes. A significant upgrade on one of our weakest areas (CM). Worth the £20 million in my opinion.

Nixon reporting wolves offering a new deal, if he doesn’t go for it then they’ll sell. He also mentions the asking price is higher than £25m

Anything above £20m and we should look elsewhere.

I dunno. We need to push the boat out in that false 9/10 position and MGW fits the profile of the type of player we seem to go for perfectly. I can see us pushing the boat out for him

People have to get over the transfer fees. Almost all the fees thrown around will be wrong and we will never know the actual amounts.

For me any number is irrelevant, the player has to be right, let the club worry about the number.

Probably the player I'd most like us to get out of all the names we've been linked with. Impressive already, young enough to improve and Cooper already has a great relationship with him.

His agent will do what Goldson did and put word out there that we're interested to squeeze a few more quid out of Wolves. Clubs and agents know we're desperate for bodies at the moment and will use it to their advantage.

I fully expect him to sign a new deal at Wolves in the next week or so. To be honest he is probably a level above where we should be aiming, not necessarily in terms of talent but in terms of how obtainable the player is. Coming up and trying to poach top young players from other PL clubs is probably going to leave us pretty disappointed this summer unless we were throwing silly money at it which I can't see.

Then we say to the agent. OK, we also like 'so and so' from Ligue 1 so we'll go after him.

Collapse of stout agent who gives him away to us.

Our guys are brilliant.

From 20m to 25m, by next week, it'll be 30m. Pass , the usual flavor of the season. The season before last, people were raving about Morgan Rogers. Seemed to have fallen down a manhole in Bournemouth last season.

Installments?
It was a mistake for us to announce that we had an immediate £50 million to spend.
We should have kept our powder dry.
