Grenville Morris
There are far too many superlatives being thrown around and we need a bit of perspective. To talk of this kid as having the potential to "the best" English midfielder is, quite frankly ridiculous at this point. Pinch yourself think through the top Prem sides and remember how many good players there are out there and then remember hes had NO sustained time in the Prem or any other top league. I mean anyone of our U13 kids might turn out to be the best player in England-f*** it why stop there, the world but the proof of the pudding is doing it.Apropos of nothing, I think we'll stay in this right to the end of the transfer window if we don't get him before.
I suspect the club sees his value as a convex curve. You could put a lot of money down and in 2/3 years either lose 25% of his value or double it and more.
That's the basics of it. His future potential is considered that he could become the best English midfielder. Not one of the best, but the best.
I suspect the question the club has to ask, do we have the coaches and the philosophy to enable that?
I don't know if we'll get him. That looks like it's down to Wolves. They share the vision of his potential.
Their gambit is similar - keep him and get him to sign a new deal that could double over what Forest are offering or see him walk away in two seasons.
Forest's risk is less, we're guaranteed some resale value. That's why we'll stay in on this.
I've no doubt I will get pelters for this and will be called negative but I see plenty of ground to be travelled for MGW before we even know his best position in the top devision let alone know exactly how good he will be.
I'd stay in there but I wouldn't go a penny over our valuation.
