Michael John Noonan

This is a good bit of business. Michael Noonan, a striker/ attacking midfielder, is regarded as perhaps the brightest prospect in Irish football. He's just turned 18.
He will have a medical at Forest this week and sign for us in January on a free transfer with Forest paying only training compensation.
He had been due to sign for Hoffenheim for €2 million last season but the deal fell foul of allegations of third-party ownership. There was also interest from Manchester City, Celtic and Ajax.
Very smart move for Forest to get him -- I assume Andy Reid has a lot to do with it. He's looked very good at under-21 international level and there are high hopes for him here. Of course the step up is huge but he's very young and the risk is extremely low.

I hope he turns out to be as good as Martin O’Neill,Roy Keane and Andy Reid.

One side of my family is Irish and I regularly go over. Most are based in the Crumlin and Tallaght area so I've actually seen him play twice.

He's definitely a very talented lad and I could see why clubs are after him. The one thing that stuck in my mind with him though was that he tried to do far too much on his own.

Straight to Rio Ave?

He's already played 58 games aged 18, may as well keep the ball rolling & Rio Ave will be at a good level coming from the Irish league.

If he turns out to be shit then you'll probably say that you always said he was shit 🤣

In all seriousness I love these kind of links. We desperately need to fill the gaps in the academy line. Having a handful of youngsters to bolster the squad and come in and take some minutes from the senior players is massive especially if we end up back in Europe.

This lad is certainly left footed, nothing much doing with the right peg on any highlights 😂

Not sure I see an out and out CF, more a #10 maybe ?
Yes that's been my impression of him too: a second striker or a number 10 but probably not an out-and-out CF. Buit of course there's a very long way to go with him.

First impression was a Joe Lolley type player when on the ball. Probably swayed by the left sided nature. Definitely second striker/#10 material, looks like an excellent investment to go along with the other young lad he’s played international football with that we have in the B team.

Maybe he's the replacement for Delap when we sell him to City for £160 million.

@Notcher you should write horoscopes mate with how ambiguous your opinions are 😂 no matter how this turns out you end up correct (sorry saw a pile on and couldn't resist, about time it was your turn in the barrel)
😂

I honestly couldn't give any kind of verdict on him. I've seen 2 games and at a completely different level. It would be disingenuous to say anything more than I did because I haven't got a clue how he'd get on with us. All I could say was he's got talent but the thing that stuck was wanting to do too much and be involved in everything.
