I mean he's an older gentleman who is a football manager, it would be more disrespectful to treat him differently based on his age imo. But my main question was more about how an incident that is less than 2 seconds according to that clip got so much attention, and yet here I am adding to that attention and wasting my own time and yours discussing it. So I guess I have actually proven why it's getting attention and become part of the problem!!

I think it was mainly mentioned in the media in a light hearted manner.

But anyone who knows sheff utd as a club, like we do unfortunately having been entwined with them too much over the last 25 years, knows it probably isn’t some light hearted silliness. It is more likely a purposeful shit house tactic that has become ingrained in them!

It wasn't lighthearted on FB or Reddit...but then nothing is on social media anyway. He could have shook Hodgson's hand and they'd probably be angry at him for squeezing too hard haha

Presumably whoever posted it on FB knows what sheff utd are like, so f*** em I’d say! The boy who cried wolf type of thing. Go round with your rough house tactics for a quarter of a century and then plead innocent every time. Eventually people cotton on.

I’d say it’s original mention was on match of the day, or the post match bbc coverage which was light hearted.

Changing the subject completely, I always remember when Warnock was the worst of the nasty managers in the championship, then when he finally got Sheff Utd promoted he spent the whole time trying to change his image, tried WAY too hard to be Mr. Nice with the press, smiling, joking, "I'm just happy to be here" sort of stuff.

Then they got relegated, which was nice.

Controversial opinion, but Lowe was just trying to recover the ball and get it back in play.

A little contretempes with Roy then became a media thing.

The thing became a repository for everyone's view of the blades.

A) and what is wrong with that? 🤣

B) surely if that type of behaviour is part of a pattern, not just over 25 years but part of a pattern for this managers tenure then you can understand why people roll eyes and poke in to the blades over it.

Before I'd seen the clip i was under the impression he punched Hodgson in the stomach. Nothing in it at all and Hodgson overreacted from what i saw

Yeah - I'd also question why Hodgson didn't take a step backwards - he saw that the ball and player were heading towards him, and he knows that a player is always going to focus on the ball and barely notice someone off the pitch.

That laughably pathetic show of petulance last year from the Sheffield utd manager when he rammed the ball as hard as he could into DJ's stomach, who just stood there laughing at him....I just remembered it. Utterly hilariously pitiful.
