Put it into context. MGW nearly went for £60M as a PL regular for the last 3 seasons and he's been one of the best performers in his role over that period whilst becoming an England international.

Southampton are putting him a similar ball park fee wise. They're having a giraffe.

Not really a like for like comparison though, only reason MGW almost went for £60m was due to his release clause and not because he was valued at that by Forest.

it could be a few reasons, but the main one would be that the new lads outperform him…and we then receive an offer for him that is too good to turn down e.g. a move back to Italy because one of their big clubs is underperforming (AC Milan - 8th).

Luiz comes in late in the window, hits the ground running (goals and assists) and we decide to make the option permanent early.

Or, we gamble big this window, but are out of both domestic cups and the EL.

Or, we have a key injury that needs backfilling.

I really rate Dominguez. I also loved Elanga. However, balancing the books and progressing is the main goal.

If he suddenly becomes 6th or 7th choice, then it would be natural to cash in at the right price.

Dominquez must stay he is the sort of player that never makes the headlines but his effort and workrate for the team is essential
I said it before and I’ll say it again…Dominguez represents a big profit from limited outlay.

We’d make 15-20m on him.

He’s awesome, but we’re likely to outgrow him over the next year.

I’m not so sure about that. It’s down to how he performs when he's back from injury, could just as easily end up being our best midfielder. I wouldn’t be rushing him out the door.

Dominguez is one of those players that is easy for fans to leave out and in some cases easy for managers to leave out as he's not 'sexy enough' bur it's amazing how when it comes down to the nitty gritty he ends up playing more often than not.

Whether he wants to stay where he's not first choice is a different matter though.

I'd like this post twice if I could. Fernandes would have to be absolutely spectacular to be an upgrade on Dominguez.

I’ve got Potter down as the first manager casualty of the season. It’s between him and Scott Parker I reckon.
I said when he was appointed he’d be a bad fit for West Ham. I’m not that convinced by him anyway but that slow, methodical rebuilding of a team with pressure off that worked at BHA doesn’t work at West Ham where things are more volatile. His record there so far is terrible, I think he’ll be gone if they don’t shape up up soon.

West Ham back in with a 32m offer, 2m up on the last one they were told to add 20m to if they had any hopes of landing him!

Unsurprisingly, Southampton's resolve is said to have softened, and they would now accept 40m. Only West Ham are currently bidding though, so expect it to drag on while they go up in 2m increments...

Can't imagine we'll have interest at the current prices quoted, though it will be interesting to see what happens once a few is agreed (probably nothing with Luiz coming in).
