Mady Camara [BUPA]

No way. This will make us furious.

Mady Camara is a class player and if he will leave olympiakos for NFFC hell will be unleashed

He had a bad last season but the guy can play in a different level. Top class.

I don't believe in these rumours.

He started this season very well again. Full energy, pace and focus.

Don't touch him :)

Don't know what to make of this.

A year ago there was talk of him being the next Kante and Man United sniffing around. Then - according to GBG- he had a bit of a stinker of a season. You have to feel Steve would fancy getting the best out of him. I do hope it's in addition to, and not instead of Mangala & Vranckx.

As said above, given the relationship between the two clubs, if he was a serious target he'd have been here weeks ago.

Last season with covid and not getting a transfer plus some problems during his national team call (serious ones, the team was held hostage during a rage there and had to leave with a special flight leaving his family back) caused him serious issues.

He is a top class material. Don't doubt about this. And such a transfer will not be an easy to swallow especially at this point of time during our qualification games. That's a reason to rebel. Could happen at the end of transfer season. Now? Doubt

A bit different to the usual target though considering he’s one of Oly’s best players. Let’s wait to see what happens. I wouldn’t have any grumbles, we need to sign so many players - this guy is just one less even if it’s as a squad player.

And karteos point about European qualifiers is a good one for those that say he should be here now.

Sceptical as I don't think we've ever done well out of a transfer from Olympiakos, at least not on the pitch anyways...

Different level I suppose now with the clubs being a bit more equal. I'd hope it was alongside O'Brien and at least one other though.

Think 2 other CM's absolute minimum plus a CAM.

I'm not normally one for the Oly links but I wouldn't mind this lad, I think he'd thrive in the Prem.

Would definitely like a Camara in CM though, Mohamed or Mahdi preferably.

Yes please. Career faltered a bit but has all the attributes to do well in the prem. He can come in and challenge Yates (who despite his limitations I firmly expect to make the step up).

I really don't think our new transfer team are going to be railroaded into anything they don't want to do.

If we buy this bloke, I'm sure the team want him. If we don't, similar.

Either way, he sounds what we need. Now.

Off to Italy on loan, most probably to Roma, with a loan fee of 2m and an option to buy for 8 more million if he gets a lot of playing time. Monza offered a better deal to us (obligatory clause to buy next summer), but the player wanted to go to Roma (as an emergency solution because of Wijnaldum's injury).

There's a cautionary tale for you in his career with us. If all goes well for you this season and you stay up, and preferably play good football as well, you will have offers for key players from the rich clubs. You, the fans, and the club, will want to resist those offers, as you successfully did with Johnson and Worrall in the past couple of years. But timing is crucial in a sale. A disgruntled player who wants to go to a bigger club may lose his value. Camara (whom we bought from peanuts) was clearly a 20m player a couple of years ago. A great athlete, strong and fast and with incredible stamina, who very quickly improved his technical skills. He wanted a big transfer, but we kept asking for more money in every offer that came (reportedly up to 14m if memory serves). And it was all downhill ever since. He's not a useful player anymore and we could only find a lucrative deal on loan, not a direct sale.

Understand the point you make GBS and we have experience of this in the past but it will also depend on other factors. Look at Fofana at Leicester. Somehow they’re getting £70M+ for a player who has downed tools.
