Think we are quite short in central midfield. Yates and Garner's ability to step up is questionable, and there's only really Colback as backup, who's no longer got the physicality to compete in central midfield at PL considering the game has changed since he last played at that level.

I'd like us to go in for someone like Abdoulaye Doucoure. Feel that sort of midfielder: mix of strength and technical ability, is what we need, and then add someone like Joe Rothwell as a cheap backup.

That'd give you your Doucoure clone, Yates, Rothwell and maybe Garner if we get him back - which would be OK, with Fornah and Ojeda allowed to go out on loan to get some vital experience. Might then be the case the season after, if we're in the Championship, the Doucore clone departs, as does Garner, and our midfield four options are Yates, Rothwell, Ojeda and Fornah, which would be OK.

Mady didn't have a good last season for many reasons. He was average. But the season before he was a f***ing monster. A player that could make a transfer to top clubs in Europe. He wanted to leave but this didn't work out well and then he had some covid issues and caught up in a bad form.

If he is fit and willing he is a top class player

Agreed about being short in midfield and I'd thought about Doucoure as well, Sissoko in a similar mould (albeit a bit older) and just gone down with Watford. Camara is a tidy player who is again fairly similar, same guy has said Palace also like him (Palace also in for Doucoure) and he's open to a Premier League move.

In his good season (2019-2020 and maybe half of the next) he was definitely Premier quality, a player easily worth 25m. A midfielder with lungs of steel, fast, great at stealing, recovering and carrying the ball, and his originally poor technical skills had vastly improved. But it was all downhill after that. At his current state, I'm afraid we would just be pocketing some of your Premier money, unless he works like a horse in the preseason.

You think it's a case of him needing a change of scenery/ new challenge? At 25 there's plenty of time to find his old form.

I’d assume if a Olympiacos player is interested in playing in the premier league we would have a chance to look at them first

I imagine we will see even more movement between the clubs moving forward.

Players like Podence, Tsimikas, Jose Sa that end up moving to Premier League destinations will see us as the main option now and it would probably make more fiscal sense.

Even if it's bulking up the squad like we did in the Championship with players like Cafu.

Although I don't think there is many options from the current squad.

I agree. There'll be a more level of transition between the clubs now. The sheep will be fuming whilst they're travelling to Shewsbury.

This isn’t a good news in my opinion. Not a slight on the player (never seen him), but I always feel like we end up with Oly players when we are panicking a little, or they are back up options.

Also they never feel like players brought in because they are favoured by the recruitment team or Coops, but rather because they are convenient and can “do a job”

Let's be honest, he's probably going to not be a starter, but more a bench player. If the fees reasonable, I'll take him. Unlike Drager who wasn't even Oly's first choice option, Camara has actually played a decent amount of 1st team football. Plus, we kinda need midfielders Atm.

Certainly suggests we are missing out on our prime targets.
Can we take him on loan - if so then a no brainer really.

Strikes me as a 'let's get someone in now because they will be cheap and see how we go with who we really want' signing.

Worrying for me this.

Its obvious that if he were an actual target, he'd have been here weeks ago. I really hope were not gonna start plugging gaps of missed targets with Olympiacos players, because it is doomed to failure if so..

Hopefully its BS
