Surely on a pure fitness level Sangare won't have a great deal of catching up to do as he was playing while the others were on the beach. It's not like he's had an extended break.

Of course... mind you he has had a couple of weeks R&R following exiting the World cup, and hopefully he spent that time having a well earned vacation with his family.
Also, with a new manager, Sangare has not yet received the tactical training that Glasner has been imparting to the rest of the squad since he took up position.

I don't see what Spurs are trying to achieve with Bergvall.

It's obvious he's not wanted. They've signed new players in his position for big money who will usurp him. He's not played in pre-season. His manager has snubbed him in public. There's clearly not that much interest in him at least at the money they've quoted.

Fine to hold out for a bit as a negotiating tactic but you think the closer it gets to season start and transfer window close they'll realise that £30m+ is better than £0, especially when the one club which has shown any real interest is quite well stocked at CM.

Should have negotiated the price before they spent big. They lost their only position of strength when they demoted him to 5th choice.

But De Zerbi said he thinks he is a great player and wants to keep him- even though they have spent £200mn on midfielders. He is not getting time to talk to him, even though they flew halfway around the world

Agree, but perhaps Glasner thinks £30m is a better move than £60m. Or maybe he doesn’t care what we spend and he just wants his main targets

I'd be disappointed if that was it, replacing a £116m England starter and one of the club's best ever players with a free transfer that has had a decent but not stellar career.

To be fair I'd have thought the club will want another but with Schlager may feel it's not quite as urgent as before and therefore we could call Spurs' bluff and wait it out.

Yeah they are clearly thinking we are much more desperate to spend big on a replacement for Anderson than we apparently are.

To be fair I'd have thought the club will want another but with Schlager may feel it's not quite as urgent as before and therefore we could call Spurs' bluff and wait it out.

It's the smart move in many ways in my opinion. Any big money replacement will immediately be saddled with both the price tag and the "new Elliott Anderson" tag. Just look at what people think of the "new Anthony Elanga" i.e. Dan Ndoye. We have good midfielders at the club already. We should always be looking to improve that cohort of course but only at the right price.

In my footballing world, we would have been relegated last season if we hadn't had Anderson breaking up the opposition. A quality battling midfielder who can play forward a la Anderson is a must on my team sheet, or we are in serious trouble.
