Loan report - fan comments 30/07

OK I'll try and do these as often as i can. I don't awnt to take over the Forest opposition fan comments from CP as I'm always too miserable to do it when we lose.

I'm not going to do Horvarth because we know about him and frankly he's probably played his last game for Forest.
I'm also leaving out Aguilera and Drager because of language issues.
Panzo is playing later today.

Will Swan - Mansfield:

Will Swan was not strong enough up front and was knocked off the ball too easily but this also applied at times to Lucas Akins and Rhys Oates. Swan did make a couple of runs but the ball was not played to him and Macca hit a few pointless long balls down the line.

Lapslie and Clarke should have started ahead of Swan, Harbottle and the still hapless but willing Akins

Surely we cant keep playing Swan up front ,,,,,,, does nothing for me & to light weight !

I thought Swan did fine yesterday. A few times he chased balls and if boeteng had his finishing boots on he would have had an assist.

We can't complain that oates had no service and feeding of scraps and then lambast Swan for not being as involved.

Its not a season to waste waiting to find out if Swan can play mens football.

They have assanti we have swan, not a dig at the lad but he's untested and a risk, assanti is a live wire at this level and not always in the game but always a danger, we need to stop borrowing players from forest they hardly ever work out, that said I'll give them more time.

Riley Harbottle - Mansfield:

Harbottle at RCB, Bowery at CB and Hewitt at LCB.

Salford attack and turns Harbottle inside out

I think we were right to let Faz go.
Harbottle is his replacement - let's wait and see.

Harbottle is more comfortable with the ball than Faz!! He didn’t put a foot wrong either.

I’d say Harbottle was our best player, followed by everyone else.

My initial impression is that Riley Harbottle is better on the ball than Farrend Rawson but he is not as commanding in the air.

It's a big ask for Riley Harbottle and Will Swan to come into a League 2 promotion side with four league starts between them. I still think we need an experienced commanding centre half at the back.

Surely any three of Gordon, Hewitt, Lapslie and Clarke should have started ahead of Swan, Harbottle and the still hapless but willing Akins

Tyrese Fornah - Reading:

Fornah and Hendrick grew into the game,

not sure how much Ince rates Fornah

Fornah - 6 grew into the game more, one bit of nice determination and strength, but very anonymous start

Ejaria, Holmes, Fornah and Guinness-Walker were way out of their depth.

Not sure why we're giving ratings to Hendrick and Fornah when they didn't play.

Hendrick looked off the pace and Fornah was bullied a lot first half yesterday.

Fornah looks to be the new Dele-Bashiru and I suspect will lose his place once Loum looms large but he fills out the squad

Fin Back: Carlisle

Playing some nice stuff here. I like the look of Back and Moxon.

Back – 7 – Looks a great signing. Caught out positionally a few times, but given his experience it’s only to be expected. His tackling, general defending and use of the ball (especially in the final third of the pitch) was excellent all round. If he doesn’t get kicked to shit by Division Four cloggers he should be an asset this season.

Back looks like he will be a real threat going forward

Armer and Back were solid. Back looked better going forward, beating the full back on several occasions

Guy Moxon and Back very good

Went to watch Salford vs Mansfield yesterday. Harbottle and Swan didn't impress, but neither did anyone in a Mansfield shirt really. Game was over at half time after an absolutely shocking first half.

I always wonder whether we just send players to Mansfield because we have no idea what else to do with them.

BTW 'Sent to Mansfield' is a great euphemism for 'banned from the forum' :D
eg "I haven't seen Calvin Plummer post here in a while"
"yeah he got sent to Mansfield last week"

Tyler Walker had a good spell there a few years ago, but I think Jordan Smith had a mare there. I think Jorge Grant also had a loan spell there but I can't remember much about it. 😂

It's hard to draw any conclusions (good or had) about Harbottle and Swan from yesterday's performance really. The entire team were dire.

We sent Duncan McKenzie to Mansfield for a couple of loan spells in the late 60s/early 70s-much to the
annoyance of some supporters (probably correctly) who felt he was worth a place in the first team.
