Hopefully both will step-up and make it difficult for Ryan to immediately take his place once he's fit again.

It'll be interesting to see how often O'Brien and Mangala play together, in a two man midfield anyway. I think they look like quite similar types so I reckon it'll be one of them two alongside Yates or someone like Onana/Sangare/Stach/Vrankx

Yeah I think it will be ball winner (Yates/Other) and ball carrier (O'Brien/Mangala) and any of them as a number 10 when we see out games or need more in midfield.

o'brien is said to be similar to garner so i imagine he might be the more defensive one whereas mangala strength supposely is his ability as a ball carrier to get out of tight spaces and carry the ball attacking forward

Still think we need a deep lying playmaker in the Garner mould. Mangala, O’Brien, Yates are all good options though.

With all those midfielders you're bying, O'Brien may soon loose his starting position. He is, however, a real asset, with a proper engine befitting this league. Solid passes, tireless closing down of corridors, and clever in his marking, trying mostly to harass and stall rather than attempt the steal (which can often prove dangerous if the attempt is unsuccessful).

I'm hoping EM saw enough today to know that we don't need another truck load of midfielders.

Amazing little player.

Should really get his ears pinned back though.

I really think we just need a few other midfielders to pack the squad for the League Cup games and in case of injuries, etc.

But O'Brien and Mangala looked a great pairing today. They had that instant chemistry and understanding. So encouraging.

Probably our most improved player from last week. HE looks like he has adjusted to the pace of the Prem very quickly. He showed good anticipation and composure today. Great engine too. I think this is going to be a real steal of a buy as time progresses.
