It's been a long time since I posted. Before covid and all that. Lamouchi was probably still manager.
All I can say is, what is going on? Where are the days of worrying about how defensive Dougie Freedman would play and googling who this Montanier that was just appointed manager is?

I watched quite a few games online last season. The cup games were simply brilliant. Now Forest signs players like these? And are in the Premiership again?

It's unreal after the past 20 or so years.

Got such a strong feeling that this chap is going to be a key player for years to come for us. These comments from Huddersfield ( & Sheff Utd) fans tell you what they think of him.

Got to admit, I’m really looking forward to see what he can do in the top flight.

Grudging respect last season because he was absolutely running the show for Udders. If he can step up a level, he could well be dictating games for Forest, too.

Found this from some random Leeds blog as they were linked to buying Garner and O'Brien this summer.

'O’Brien is the more natural defensive player of the two, preferring to sit deeper and offer support to the back line. He is a better tackler than Garner, completing more overall tackles and tackles per 90 minutes than the Forest loanee over the course of the season.'

That protection in front of the defence is exactly why O'Brien will be key to us this season. I wouldn't say O'Brien is as creative as Garner but he can still pick a good pass, and that will allow Yates to do his box-to-box role effectively.

You just had to come back and rub it in didn't you!

Seriously though, you have got yourself a serious player in O'brien. Totally ran our midfield, you won't see a player in your squad that covers more of the pitch, you won't find a player In your squad that is more committed, but most importantly with all that, he's a cracking player too. I think he will easily make the step up and wouldnt suprise me if hes your future captain. Look after him he's a goodun.

Toffolo on the flip side had another cracking season too, however I'm a little less confident he will make the step up. Going forwards he's great, defensively he's suspect and can be caught out of position. Could surprise me, but time will tell

Good luck for the season, I hope you all enjoy it which I'm sure you will. I will keep a keen eye on both

Cheers mate

That in particular is good to hear - our success in MF last season was built on ours covering lots of ground and almost doing the job of 3 players between 2 of them.

BBC Matchday interview with Radio Leeds Paul Ogden on Sounds. 15 mins. Good insight into O'Brien and Toffolo:

I never really had O’Brien down as someone who would ‘sit’. Likes to break forward with the ball and also press to win the ball back at times. Perhaps less likely to actually get in the box than Yates. They may well complement each other and Colback too.

I'm the same, this one and Niakhate are the ones I'm most excited about. I think we're going to love this fella.

Still stand by this statement ?

I could be wrong but it looks like cooper wants upward-trajectory hungry types. While AMN has something to prove, I'm not sure he fits that description; depends how much he feels he's made it already I suppose, or how hungry he is to get say an England shirt back.

Hodgey alluded to players thinking they're made it/being financially sound earlier in the chippers podcast, and I do wonder with Maitlin-Niles wgetger that's a factor? He's just one of the few with prem experience that fits the rest of what we like - athletic, young, capable of playing multiple roles. Can't think of too many more like that, though there probably are some.
Ha, Lingard was one, though I had no idea we were fishing in those waters!
