On his day, and when fit, one of the best strikers in the championship.
If he goes elsewhere at that level and avoids Injury, he pretty much gives you 10-plus goals in the bank.

We all know his goal scoring quality was undisputed, but what Grabban brought in terms of professionalism was second to none, and I am sure if we saw what went on behind the scenes he would be looked on even more favorably as almost everybody within the club said he deserved the armband. When you consider the reputation he arrived with, disliked by a lot of his old clubs, the almost defamation the Sunderland doc gave him, etc.
Absolute breath of fresh air was Grabbs, superb hold up and link play for a striker that scores as many as he does. Great player, intelligent player - good luck to him. It's a shame because it felt like he found a home here, hopefully he will back to coach in the academy when he retires.
He has never been the type to want to sit on the bench though.

Been a great servant to the club Grabbs has. Was hoping he would stay as back up next season but its probably time to move on oin fairness.
I expect he'll opt for somewhere like America or the Middle East.

I think he had an offer last summer in Qatar at the team Sabri was managing.
I must have genuinely been the only person that didn't think he came of badly in that documentary.
When I watched it I saw a bloke pissed off that be was banging goals in (12 in 20) for a shockingly poor team, who was annoyed he was being taken off at 60-70 minutes when noone else was scoring.... To me that showed hunger and desire not arrogance and a bad attitude.

No I didn't think he came across that badly but lots of people did.
The only appearences he made was scoring goals in every highlights clip, then he walked out and got the hump because Coleman kept subbing him off (which was awful management by the way - they left that bit out) - I think McGeady said that Coleman should have put his arm around him.
I dont think Grabs is the arm around the shoulder type of player tbf, I think he's a let me get on with guy, whose quiet and keeps himself to himself.
I still don't get how he came off badly.

Shortly after we signed Grabban I was talking to a Norwich fan who said he was a complete arsehole behind the scenes and had upset their whole dressing room vibe, going awol and constantly pushing for a transfer away.

Whatever happened to him at Forest, as you say he seemed to find a home here where he finally felt comfortable and respected. Cooper himself commented on Grabban's influence and professionalism and he became a leading figure in the dressing room by all accounts.
Will miss him, his willingness to play for the team, and his intelligent football brain.

One of my favourite players of the last decade or so. Our first 20 goal a season striker in god knows how long and worked his arse off in other areas of the pitch as well (something that people didn't always recognise).
Sad to see him go to be honest but he'd be a real asset to any Championship side and I'm sure he'll find the right club and continue to thrive in his twilight years.

Came here with a reputation for scoring goals but being a prick and f***ing off after a year.
I've sang his praises many times on this thread over the past few years. I think the criticism that he could at times was a little baffling. I don't know if some folk genuinely had it out for him because he's Muslim to be honest but alas, he's been consistent and at times prolific. His goal returns during Sabri's season with the scraps he had to work off of were incredible. Had he not got an injury last season, I think he might of had a good chance of reaching 20 goals again.
£6m was money well spent for him in the end and he leaves us in a better position than when he found us.
Think his last goal for the club might have been against Derby and if that's the case, a fitting final strike.
We probably offered him half the money he was on and knowing him even as little as I do, he'd have wanted to start as many games as possible and be the main man but obviously, we're in a different place now.
Hope he gets himself a nice move to the Middle East.

I always said Sabris football was like watching paint dry and Grabban must have super human powers to get as many as he did under him. Sometimes he'd only get one half chance in a game and we'd win 1-0.
I think without him and Lolley that season we would've been around the bottom 6 not the play offs.

Dizzy-honestly I think its ridiculous to even infer that people had it in for him on here because he was a Muslim. Thats a disgraceful statement and at odds with the spirit (and by and large intelligence) we have on this forum.
I'd hate to think we can't debate a player, and even have a bit of leg pulling without that sort of thing being said. Personally I was hurt when that was levelled at me when I took the piss out of his beard (because it isn't a great looking beard) a year or two ago, and I won't say anything like that again.
My take on Grabbs is that over the whole of his stay with us hes been a huge net positive, but that doesn't mean he hasn't had his issues at times and the idea that he was a "complete" striker as some seem to be implying was untrue. He was a high quality, and calm finisher and over his 4 years with us developed his positional play considerably. He wasn't a great "hold up" striker in the conventional sense but actually seemed to thrive when playing on his own up front where he used the additional space to make himself available for passes and use then use the ball simply and sensibly. For what its worth I think he would have struggled in the prem even if he were a couple of years younger. Thats not to say he wouldn't have scored goals but I think he lacked the additional "superpower" in his game (speed, strength, dribbling skills) that you need at that level to be one of the top boys...
Overall I wish him well and I hope he goes somewhere where he gets a big chunk of money rather than scrapping at somewhere like WBA. Hes done that and theres nothing else to prove so take the cash, hes earned it.

I didn't specify that it was individuals on here to be fair, I just stated that in my opinion some of the criticism of him as a Forest player was strange at times and honestly, the only thing I can put it down to is his religious beliefs. There would be times in the Sabri season for example where he'd go a couple games without season and all of a sudden he didn't look bothered or he's shit or this and that. He scored 20 that year!
Maybe I'm off the mark but that's what at times it seemed like to me. I feel like if he was non-muslim, he would have been appreciated more. His consistency has been unmatched to be honest in a Forest shirt for any striker we've had for a while.
He wasn't the perfect striker but what he did do, he did very well at this level. I think if he went to a Championship team, he could probably still be the main man now. I wish him prosperity and enjoyment with the next stage of his career.
