Leaving the City Ground

Agreed, there isn't the emotional attachment to your modern stadium's compared to a City Ground, Villa Park, Elland Road, Molineux etc

Fans of a certain age probably still wish we were at Roker Park but we simply had to move. The ground was penned in by terraced housing so it was impossible to redevelop

Had we stayed there, with all seater stadium's being mandatory, the capacity would be 14,000
Would have been ample 😉

One of my highlights following Forest was the expression on my daughter's face as we crossed Trent Bridge for her first match. You don't get that anywhere else.

We did it get that as we live sarf of the rivers. But I did. Tell her you’ll never see grass as greener than. You do the first time you walk out and see the pitch.

Still gives me goosebumps now every time I take my seat.

Love the City Ground but wouldn't have been against an Eastside development if it wasn't an identikit stadium.

Big problems with staying where we are is with available space around the stadium. What would be ideal is if the club one day in the future could purchase the houses around Orston road, which would allow
- Full 360 access around the stadium, so no need to have to detour round the local area to get from main stand to BC stand.
- More space to fit bars/activities etc before/after games.
- Proper expansion of the Bridgford stand (as in, maybe even three tier it) to take our capacity to ~45k rather than mooted 38k.

Something like this:

Where new stands are in red and purchase of land shown in green. Current megastore obviously getting replaced anyway as part of the PT redevelopment but that area taken up by the new block of flats.

Think it would be a bit of a waste if we only end up doing the redevelopments as is. Will leave us with a ground where demand will likely exceed capacity, poor egress still and no real upgrade to facilities. If the club continues to progress then there will come a point sooner than most realise where we outgrow the City Ground regardless of the PT redevelopment so may end up being forced to move anyway.

Stay at the CG 100%. We have to do a lot more to improve both the capacity but also the commercial viability of the stadium and surrounding infrastructure, though.

If we were to move, the comparisons of the new ground to the World Famous City Ground would always be stacked in favour of the WFCG.
Until, that is everyone alive today who knows and loves the WFCG, with all its limitations and idiosynchryses, dies and the only ones left attending game have never been to the WFCG.
So, if Forest are going to move, can they wait until I'm dead and cremated, please?
