I've seen Forest teams where you wouldn't actually want any of the strikers to start lol. Derbyshire, Miller, I loved him first time but the returning Harewood, Daddi, American guy who's name I forget etc.

For me Davis starts, got twelve days so I imagine if he could play 45 minutes yesterday he'll be fine for the match by then.

Edit - how could I name bad strikers and forget Dobie and Harris? *shudders*

Robbie Findley.

I think he once cleared the ball off the line when trying to score or maybe my memory is getting the better of me.

It is not.

He somehow managed to spoon a shot over the bar from about one meter away, one of those when it was easier to score.

An absolute shocker, right up with Ronnie Rosenthal.

As Rhodes's aerial threat could be a problem, we need one of them - Surridge or Davies - on the line, defending.

Nah, just get Yatesy, Wozza and Cookie to chin him in the tunnel, pre-match, job done.

* obviously I do not condone violence.

Unless it’s against Derby fans.

I agree wholeheartedly with others. As does Alan Nixon it seems.

He's just too damn effective not to start if he's 100%. Unleash Surridge on tired legs later on.

Unleash the BEAST....

Yeah but it all depends on his fitness. A big pitch like Wembley in the heat is a test coming back from a muscular injury and only the club will know where hes really at.
Last thing you want is him pulling something after 15 mins....

On another note, what does the brains trust think about Gerrard putting out noises that Keinan isn't for sale?. Is he serious or is this about bolstering his price?

He won't be at Villa next season, they have ambitions for Europe

They will just be trying to get the price up. A few months ago they were saying they will sell him.

I really don't like Gerrard. Hes of that "legend in his own lifetime" type that seems to occasionally inhabit places like Scouseland. And whilst he was a good player, he clearly wasn't as good as thinks or he would have world cups etc (or even just progress to later stages of tournaments)-I mean he always looked like a carthorse to me against Spanish or French opponents.
My suspicion is hes also a nasty piece of work.
Not that that's got anything to do with Keinan and selling or not, at the end of the day hes their player

I liked how he was found not guilty of punching the DJ to the floor despite some very clear and unarguable footage showing him..er.. punching the DJ to the floor.

Thats what you get if you are someone like "Stevie G"-you're treated different to the rest. A bit like BoJo.

It wouldn't surprise me if there's an informal agreement with us to buy for a certain fee once the loan ends.

What would we say would be a fair value for him? £5/6m? His goalscoring record isn't the best which would make him less expensive surely than the likes of Assombalomga when we sold him or the likes of Solanke, or even Grabban a few years back.

Edit: I've just looked and I didn't realise just how bad his goalscoring record actually is. 3 in 73 for Villa...

Hence the "if he's 100%".

Also worthy of note that the Wembley pitch is actually smaller than ours.

With some players, it's all about where they feel comfortable and under managers they feel comfortable with.

McGugan really only played his best stuff under Davies, who was always on at him over his weight issues, attitude, etc.

But at Forest, that's where he would have felt at home too.

Davis could easily go back to Villa and not perform the same way he has here.

It's up to Villa to take the gamble and if he doesn't perform there then he might end up back here anyway, for a lesser price.

Nah, he was a class player, but rather classless himself. Players like Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres wouldn't have rated him if he was a carthorse. As Forest found out shit managers equals a shit team. Players like Gerrard and Scholes shunted round the pitch to fit in lesser players. Still hard to believe there was even a Gerrard Lampard debate. Just needed a manager to make the choice and stick with it.

Well Torres was in the same team as him so I'm not sure he would ever had said anything other than that. I do think in that "era" there was still a grudging respect for English physicality amongst nations like the Spanish, because they just didn't have that and even though it was crystal clear the game had moved beyond that at the very top level. Anyway I'm not too proud to admit that I find it hard watching Liverpool such is my dislike of them and perhaps I am a little coloured with regard to their self styled "legends". That being said I can see what great players Van Djk, Jota, Diaz and Sarah are so I can't be that one eyed!

Paul Scholes retired from international football (way too early) because he was fed up of being pissed about to accommodate the ineffective Lampard-Gerrard axis in midfield.

Gerrard was undoubtedly world class.

He near single-handedly dragged Liver-scum to a Champions League victory after being 3-0 down at half time. Scholes was also world class.

Not sure it's fair to say they should have single-handedly spurred England on to win trophies. We've seen with Gareth that it's about the team rather than the individuals.

I'll trust their peers judgement.

Gerrard was absolutely world class and carried that Liverpool team. Not sure how this is even questioned, he had everything. Yes he was physical but he backed that up with his technical ability and knowledge of the game.

That Gerrard/Lampard debate was an absolute farce. It should have been Gerrard and Scholes occupying the central midfield.

Agree with the majority here.

Gerrard and Scholes were by far the best midfielders of the last 20 years.

Their technical ability and will to win were second to none.

When you've got plaudits for them coming from all over Europe, you know they were exceptional.

The problem is, Lampard always had an eye for goal that was better than both which confused poor Sven.

I agree it just works at some clubs and not others but I never realised how bad his record was. 3 in 75 games for Villa isn't just bad it's positively dreadful. I will accept some appearances were off the bench but this is Silenzi/Harris/Dadi/Rosario territory.

I still rate him highly though, his mere presence seems to spur the rest of the side on and I'd love for us to sign him, even if we went up.
