Reminds me of him scoring against Birmingham almost immediately, at his best he was a seriously dangerous player.

He probably was just a little past his best in terms of his mobility when he signed for us Cloughie, obviously a consequence of the batterings he routinely took from centre-backs vainly trying to get the ball from him. That said, Solly still had plenty of good games for us when his bravery, strength and guile stood out, not least during the League Cup Final-replay at Old Trafford. The fact that Cloughie also trusted him in midfield (as in the game in question) when we were short of bodies in there also spoke volumes about him.

I particularly remember a League Cup Quarter-Final Replay against West Ham in 1979,Otis.
I got absolutely soaked in only the 2nd game in the Upper BC (Executive Stand) before the
roof was put on.
The game was played on a swamp-with Forest winning 3-0 in extra-time.John O’Hare ran
the show (I think from midfield).

Cloughie would indulge Solly a bit though Cloughie, by not expecting him to do much outside of the middle-third of the pitch, but Cloughie quite rightly trusted him to not give the ball away, and knowing that he could ping a pass.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Especially Antonio. Stan though, my god I don't think I've ever felt such a rush when a player runs at the opposition. Inject that right into my veins.
 
Yeah the Antonio comparison is spot on. It was impossible to stop either of them when they were in full flow.

But with Davis it was based on a small sample size, ask Watford fans what they think of Keinan. They think he is absolute crap.
 
None of this matters because by the looks of it if we'd actually signed him as well as Taiwo he'd have played fewer matches for us than Omar Richards.
 
There’s still people in lower Trent End that still think we should sign him in January.

Maybe spend a minute on google to see he hasn’t played at all this season so far, would be a good starting point.
 
Feel for Davis. He should be in the PL and being a right handful to some of the worlds best but just those injuries all the time.

Felt similarly for Chris Cohen. Deserved his shot in the PL, gutting that injuries curtailed that right at the point he was getting some serious interest.

Tbf this thread hadn't had a post in 6 months, not sure people are still prayer for him,or even talking about him much are they?

Happy for him he got an important moment this season, can't imagine udinese fans are too happy with him so far so at least that gives him something. Doesn't seem like a waster, just a guy whose body isn't as capable as he is when it comes to professional football

We were dying a show death in the playoff semi 2nd leg until he single handedly brought some forward momentum.

If he wasn't so injury prone, I am sure he could do a job in the Premier league.

Exactly, it was not so much about the goals it was his all round play. Just look at that run vs Blackburn for Garners goal, awesome.
 
I absolutely loved him and a lot of my Villa mates feel the same way. There have been times this season where we could have done with his hold up play which was is as good as anyone's I have ever seen at Forest.

We were unlikely to sign him once we'd had an offer accepted for Taiwo but, if he can get himself fit, he'd be a great option for someone.
