Just to add, Blackpool have a year’s option on Bowler, so he won’t be out of contract in the sunmer like Jed Wallace will be.

It's a shame but to be honest after Grabban's injury a replacement forward / striker was more important and if we were forced to choose between the two then I think we made the right call

so no one thought to ask the player if he wanted to come before spending all that time on the fee.

Or is that too simplistic?

Well, there's also two lines going about... This one and the one Forest journos are reporting that we bid up to £3m and they still wouldn't accept. This one seems more one from him/ his agent to say "see Blackpool fans I didn't want to go anywhere"

He clearly has a lot of admirers with the likes of Bournemouth after him, so unless we were willing to pay silly money for wages I'd imagine his agent and he would prefer to turn down a team still most likely to be in the championship next year when he might still be able to go to B'mouth in the summer on Prem wages ..

At the end of the day we had more chance of winning with his younger brother Tom than this lad...

Also not allowed as we could be accused of tapping up?

Blackpool are only 6 points behind us with a game in hand.

Just to give some perspective.

It's not too unreasonable to suggest Bowler looked at everything and rejected us based on that. He might also be happy in Blackpool (I know...)

Easy to tweet something like that after the window closes to appease the fans

If Bowler was adamant about staying at Blackpool negotiations wouldn't have gone to the last few hours of transfer deadline day

Sounds like BS to me

Then he needs his head checking

It could in theory be a case of he thought why bother moving, hell possibly get interest in the summer from a Prem club and watching our stance with Brentford put him off. Also he's a big fish in a little pond in Blackpool, whereas here we are a bigger pond and he'd be a smaller fish.

depends, when two clubs are negotiating for a player, its common for the player to be given permission by his club to negotiate terms and even undergo a medical before the two clubs agree a fee

It's not allowed but no one bids for a player without sounding them/their agent out first. Mostly it's done by a clubs agent to a players agent, no one directly involved so no tapping up. Also, they'd have been no bids if he didn't want to or wouldn't consider a move, just like Worrall, Johnson etc. They would have gone but it just doesn't all line up.

I think it was Colleymore in the summer talking about this and he said exactly the same thing. The agent will go to the player and ask him if he fancies the move, if it is a outright no, teams aren't going to waste man hours on a transfer that won't ever happen.

Collymore has a bizarre saviour complex. He's doing it at Southend at the moment, where he started his career.

A mate of mine is Southend fan - he showed up on their forum, made a big song and dance about how to save the club, somehow got himself a job there, then promptly disappeared again when they continued their slide towards the sixth tier.
