Too early for his own thread?

Anyway, just wanted to find out what kind of a player he is - couldn't find much searching the forum or internet at large.

Never too early in support of a young player.

A decent attacking midfielder, has had a few useful cameo performances (at home against Charlton possibly his most effective).

The remainder of this season and next are going to be big for him I think. He needs to be regularly in the squad for us if he's going to make it!

He's an enthusiastic midfielder. Not sure if he's a central midfielder or an attacking one - like a number 10. He has some nice touches, closes down and doesn't give up too easily.

Chris is right in saying the rest of this season and next are crucial for him. I think we have a lot of competition for midfielders so maybe pushing into 10 spot could do him good.

I thought he was decent against Watford, he didn't do a lot wrong nor did he do anything spectacular but I think he has potential.

Looks a lovely level headed footballer, who playing alongside Vaughan, who had an outstanding game yesterday can only continue to progress in his education.

Fabulous to see so many youngsters knocking on the door at the moment.

The poor f***er has been thrown in to play two prem teams in the last few years, I would like to see him given a few more matches , Hopefully when we play a lesser team so we can attack more.

My worry is we have too many cm on the books.

Osborn and Cohen cant get into the middle and it looks like they will have to stick at LW/LB .

That leaves us Vaughan/Gardner/Tesche/Lansbury/Grant all fighting for two or three places.

For me I would let Tesche go , If like they say he is on big money then I would rather have Grant as back up.

Vaughan,Gardner,Grant is enough for this season add Mance/Cohen/Osborn who can all play there.

He looks very composed on the ball and likes to push forwards.

Like Lard says I would rather us develop him and let Tesche go.

In a similar vain I would let Wilson go and develop Worral.

We are well stocked in midfield and central defence so could get rid of £40-50k a week by getting rid of them both.

Same.. I think it's clever management. Is Tesche a match winner? No. What's the net affect on the side playing him above Grant? Probably very little.

Vaughan, Lansbury (hopefully Gardner) with alternative snr players like Cohen, Osborn and Mancienne capable of playing there (dare I say Reid) this should be a position where we save money and trim the squad, perhaps not off unnecessary players but possibly superfluous..

I'd agree with what Lard said, and others have echoed. I'd get rid of Tesche at the end of the season. Grant showed more than enough on the ball yesterday (and has done when I've watched him for the 21s) to show that he has some natural ability to create chances and opportunities for others. Hes got the possibility to be a rare commodity, the sort of player who can drift between attack and midfield with ease, linking play and covering ground all over.

As for the comment about Wilson and Worrall.. I'd be more than inclined to agree.

Agree with Donny.

I'd much rather see Grant in the side over Tesche, likewise Worrall over Wilson.

Grant was steady enough yesterday, very comfortable and composed on the ball. Helped things tick along nicely and I feel he very deliberately played a very simplistic game, and it clearly gave him confidence to take the ball in tight areas over time.

Yesterday was my first sighting of Grant.
Obviously no can evaluate a player after seeing him play 1 game, but I thought that he showed some promise and would benefit from a few matches over the rest of the campaign.
I am now sufficiently confident we will not be relegated this season, and that top 6 is beyond our reach (not because of our current form, but because we were so poor running up to Christmas).
So, I think that there is little by way of external pressure that could inhibit the lad from growing in confidence.
Him Tyler Walker and Ollie Burke could all be utilized over the remaining half of the season.
One or more of them could, like Ben Osborn, make the grade and be a prize asset when we push for promotion next season.
I had been looking forward to seeing Ollie Burke play a full game.
Boy, did he have a stinker!
But, like Grant and Walker, he is young and hopefully the coaches will ensure he realises his potential.
As my mate said at the the game yesterday "The concern with Burke is that he will coached in a play-by-numbers way, and may not develop the instinctive skills and perceptions that mark out the great from the good".

Tesche and wilson can go , we should try to sell lansbury if we can. Not sure what is going to happen with Lars & Pato but moving up our youngsters as cover is the right way to go.

Next season , with our own players with no loanees , we still can put out a decent team.

1) DDV
2) Lichaj
3) Pinilos
4) Mills
5) Mancienne
6) Vaughan
7) O.Burke
8) Cohen
9) Grant/Dex
10) Assombalonga
11) Osborn

Agreed hoping Dougie feels the same, it's pointless having 4 high earning centre backs and central mids. Essentially all they're doing is blocking new talent coming through.. I'd let Tesche go as is isn't very good anyway and Wilson or Hobbs..

Definitely not something we need an abundance of right now.

Thanks for the reports y'all

I'd like to see Grant go out on loan to League One or Two for a few games, as he's not really had the chance to get a run in a professional side and it would probably benefit his game.

Let's not forget he's a few years behind players of a similar age due to not getting picked up as early as others.

When Wilshere was coming though at Arsenal Wenger was quoted as saying something along the lines of ''it's easier for a young attacking midfield player to learn his trade playing deeper, because the attacking role is more difficult (more responsibility)' or something like that. Not sure if that's relevant at all

Was it Grant that played the pass to put Oliveira through when he cut back and tried to take it past the keeper? Good pass that anyway.

That was Osborn. Grant went off for Oliviera.

I really like him. Has a good energy and I like his positivity and driving runs forward from midfield.

I think he's a great option to bring on as sub at this present time. Then if he keeps impressing, he'll hopefully be ready to nail down a starting place.

Oh, ok thanks mate - I was an extreme part-time fan this weekend - sorry! I've only seen the play once but thought it was right footed (and indeed from a fair-ish or it would seem now very fair haired player) and if so then it makes it even more notable coming from Osborn doesn't it? It was I suppose nothing out of the ordinary for a Forest player in prior years but it's the sort of thing I'd like to see/hear more of (although arguably I would if I was less part-time!).
