Do like under the cosh but they don't exactly challenge any wild claims that are made on it by anybody.Claimed on Under The Cosh that he was basically told he wouldn't play again after Villa, never kicked off like it was said in the paper and when he wanted to leave to Turkey, we apparently said either he had to terminate two years money or come back to England right as the window was about to shut.
Maybe it's bullshit, but then we've done some wild things behind the scenes over the years under Marinakis so I could sort of believe it.
I imagine there was an attempt to get him to give up 2 years money and that is pretty usual in terms of football clubs trying it on with players but as we saw with Arter its not something that can be enforced in reality.
From the other perspective you have someone demanding two years wages to not complete 2 years work so trying to get £4m wages a year off the books isn't crime of the century.
I would guesstimate that the eventual result was that things landed nearer to his asks than the clubs but its not unusual for peoples start position to be the ideal situation for them.
His issue was that there was no viable interest in taking him on for the wages he demanded and we were daft enough to offer.
