He was a different type of inside forward than Forest previously had. He could play but he also had a spikeyness about him.

Of all the members of that remarkable 66/67 team he was my favourite. Just got on with it and you're correct about his "spikeyness" didn't he once hit Bremner of the ball once?

Yes, I think Bremner had been kicking everything that moved throughout the first half and Barnwell decided enough was enough and gave him some of his own medicine. I think we included this in the ISM book but I haven’t a copy to hand to check the precise details. Fair to say Bremner had it coming, though.
