Bloody hell, that's a shock. Great player (one of the best ever) and visionary manager, and also did some good work for disabled kids etc. RIP.

Oh no. He's not been well for a while but this is still a massive shock.

Grew up watching him as player and manager, and his talent and skill inspired a generation of Dutch footballers.

The football world is a worse place today.

RIP Johan.

Hup, hup, Holland hup!

The debate about who was the greatest player of all time will go on for ever, but this man would get my vote all day long.

RIP a genuine footballing legend.

Fantastic player who illuminated a rather stagnant period of football, huge influence on the game and sad for his family and close circle to have lost him relatively so young.

Where's me hammer?
Folk always mention the player but the amount of time he was barca manager means he had something special off the pitch to. I was lucky enough to be at wembley for the european cup final when his barca side won it, what an experience

Four La Liga Championships in a row.

And his influence built La Maisa, the revered Barca Academy, that has produced so many of their recent great players.

Jury's out still for me.

He was never as versatile as Brian Rice... he certainly never scored at Coventry City

RIP
