Jayden Richardson

Would have thought he was better than a loan to a non league team, but it gets him games at this time
We are a bit thin at the back in areas so the thinking is probably that this keeps him close by whilst getting minutes

Also he can only go on loan to non-league outside the transfer window now, so probably the best move for him. He can still train with us occasionally

Agreed RR. That's exactly it.

Cooper also recently name dropped Fin Back. Saying he would have been with the first team now if not for an injury.

So with Tutu back and playing an U23 game and Jayden's pathway seemingly blocked a little loan to Notts will hopefully help with a league loan in Jan.

As I suggested in the Sadpie thread, an opportunity to get match-fit in anticipation of Spence leaving in January?

I think it is more to get games under his belt regardless.

With the greatest respect to Richardson, I don't even think he was as good as Gabriel and Back seems to have usurped him in the pecking order. I would very much worry if we are shoving a guy in to the first team who could barely get a kick at Forest Green last season. But I trust the management team to make the right call.

I'd agree with this. His best chance of getting a first team game had become left-back, which isn't even his natural position (and was likely due to a lack of bodies).
And as Cooper was talking up Aaron Donnelly almost making the subs bench against West Brom, he may have slipped down the order there as well.

A good loan spell could bring him back into contention, but he might be drinking in the last chance saloon.

I doubt the Vanarama league is anywhere close to our U-23 level in terms of quality, but the games are more frequent and the physicality will provide him with a challenge.

Richardson has spent two years out on loan in the fourth division as cover for a position that isn't even his favoured role.

I can't help but feel the club has made a bit of a mess with his progress over the last few years.

He did a good job at Exeter playing out of position. The loan to Forest Green just didn't seem to work out and then he seems to have floated round the club. I was surprised he didn't get a chance in front of Gabriel. He seems to have all the physical attributes required of the role. But the fact Gabriel was in front of him and obviously not considered good enough, and that he didn't fill in at left back in front of Bong, looks like he isn't going to make it to the 1st team which is a shame.

Be interesting to hear what someone like BryanRoy thinks though.

Good luck to him at County, hopefully he rips it up and makes the coaches think again.

To be honest, I'm not sure he's that good or certainly managers past and present give that impression. He was behind Gabriel in the pecking order who may well find himself plying his trade in League One next season.

Now Tutu is fit he'll no doubt be the replacement for Spence with Lowe on the left. Back and Bong/Colback the cover if needed.

This'll leave us slightly weakened. Let's see if January leaves us with net gain in other areas of the pitch to compensate. Looking at upcoming fixtures there is every chance we might be in the play off positions come January.

If we can keep hold of Spence I'd prefer to see him on the right.
And I think Lowe is a better bet on the left than Tutu.
