James Ward-Prowse

Personally, I think it's a bit early to be writing Sangare off. In fact, crazy as it might sound, I think he might be a become a better option against sides who prefer to sit in and counter (albeit, there are fewer of these in the current PL) than, say, a Yates 'cos his game (historically) is based on interceptions, telescoping tackles and quick forward play rather than spoiling.

But, on the subject of the slightly underwhelming JWP, I was impressed by a) his communication when defending set-pieces and b) that he was right up with the play for the double chance at the end during his brief cameo against Everton.

I don't particularly enjoy seeing him being a yard off in closing down or making a block, but I think he's probably very professional and/ or very committed. Certainly experienced.

I always thought he played better in a more attacking role rather than as an 8 and I don't see how he gets into the 10 ahead of MGW or Anderson, but I don't get the sense that he's just here to pick up his wages, which counts for something, maybe.

The talk does seem quite strong of JWP back to West Ham. Fact is he’s probably screwed for game time here isn’t he.

I think it probably depends on the manager. If they bin Lopetegui this month then a new manager might want him back to have a look at him.

JWP hasn't set the world alight here but then again I rather one of our own gets the starting birth.

He is still a good option to have on the bench, plenty of experience, not exactly over the hill and has a good set piece on him to potentially turn a game.

When he was fit, four months ago, he was Nuno's first choice.

Suggests that the manager saw something in him that you (and many others, to be fair) didn't.
Four months is a long time in football though; just because he was Nuno's first choice then doesn't necessarily mean he would be now

In the time since Sangaré last played Nuno has seen this midfield power Forest up to third in the league; stuff like that changes things

The reason he’s not playing is because he got sent off for that blatant card and then everyone else has been keeping him out since. It’s not that Nuno doesn’t fancy him so let’s just seen how far the pecking order he is if Sangare and Danilo are back in the next few weeks.

Post #8 in this thread offers a concise explanation of why he's not playing.

At the same time, you suggest that Nuno will have binned him out to the bomb squad. LOL.

Especially with Potter looking likely to take over
Potter's been hanging around as a potential new manager for so long with so many it's comical - after the debacle at Chelsea this would be his acid test ... as an English manager of course I'd like to have him succeed but this a tough ask. High enough and with enough quality to probably see them through the season without a relegation battle and then build for next season.

According to the Times, West Ham "have ruled out cutting short James Ward-Prowse’s loan at Nottingham Forest as they want to try to sign an energetic central midfielder". Says it all really.

You'd imagine the new guy in might have different ideas.

He's our highest wage earner, and he isn't really important to what we do, is he? I think we should send him back. Then we can use that wage block to sign Wood and Aina.
