Says that they want him to play regularly.

Given that we've spent around £25m on two CMs (O'Brien and Mangala) and another is a first team mainstay (Yates), I'd imagine that probably rules us out (and probably Leeds too).

More chance of signing Jason McAteer for £500 and a big bag of footballs.

Leaning towards a yes please, and I haven't finished watching the video yet!

Seems like more of a number 10, or possibly a left CAM in a 3 player midfield with one anchor player.

As part of the squad (but if he starts off amazing potentially part of a first choice XI often) I don't see a reason not to try for the loan!

The problem is that Man City seemingly want guaranteed playing time. Telling any of Yates, Mangala or O'Brien (or Lingard if we are talking #10) that they are being dropped for an inexperienced teenager would go down like a bucket of cold sick.

With 5 subs, you could gurantee him regular playing time even if he wasn't getting regular starts?

I'm still not convinced that it should be two of Yates, Mangala and O'Brien playing CM but maybe that's just me thinking one plus a playmaker (I'm not necessarily completely against Yates plus a Mangala or O'Brien though or Mangala and O'Brien doing an all-round midfield job alongside each other even, just not sure, especially with 3 CBs).

However I doubt this lad would play CM (unlike potentially Ramsey/Garner etc) - he seems more like an AM. If we could get him though (and the same would apply to Gibbs-White for that matter) maybe it's not completely out of the question to just have Niakhate and another CB, and play a number 10 plus Lingard as left attacking midfielder (and Johnson as right attacking midfielder/forward), at least sometimes?

I dunno - maybe it's not so much one I'm thinking is likely, as one I'm thinking I'd like! But if he's good enough then maybe it should be considered (if a loan of Garner is a no go or a purchase is as good as a loan to buy anyway if agreeing installments then maybe it wouldn't set us back, and could just turn out great). I'm not sure any team can say there will be 100% guarantee on being a first choice player even if it starts off like that - Goncalves never became a first choice here and Gilmour was out of the team at Norwich after a while for example (when it might have been expected they'd feature regularly).

He seems a little like Aguilera in some respects maybe? So could be stop gap to him arriving (and he'd give us something different to what we have in the same way). I guess buying McAtee is out of the question anyway!

Edit: If he did come and started playing fantastic, I guess it would be obvious to players that he was worth a place in the team. Alternatively, he could be a regular off the bench (even for Taiwo, leaving Lingard and Johnson ahead of him or something in some away games where we could play on the counter if we'd gone ahead or were drawing a game against an excellent team - by on the counter I mean in the typical Forest passing style not bunkering and hoofing though by the way - I know it's been/being discussed on other threads but I think at our best Forest have always been a side that is good on the counter but also always looked to play constructive and positive football - they aren't mutually exclusive at all, especially where Forest have been concerned I'd say). I'd also say that at this minute, we haven't bought MGW, Garner, brought in Ramsey or Tadic or any of these things so we are definitely a bit short still as things stand in terms of AMs/creative midfielders.

Depends on what Man City's definition of regular game time is I suppose.

If they mean regular starts, then I'd rather we didn't bother. Regular appearances on the other hand would be something we could perhaps do. Is an inexperienced teenager the best use of our remaining Premier League loan slot though?

On the first part I think it’s fair to say, and no offence to you, but cooper clearly does. He clearly wants (as per last year) 2 box to box midfielders with ball carrying over playmaking.

On the second part, I think you’ve kind of answered you’re own question in that both examples ended up not playing. When you have 2 loan options I’m not sure it’s wise to use it on an unproven youth player, even if they are talented it takes time and we don’t have that luxury with so many other unestablished in the prem

I wasn't going to post again (maybe thinking of winding down my forum posting altogether soon anyway, then sitting back and seeing how Forest do without comment), but I'd better clarify - don't worry about the sad face response - just seemed the best choice but I'm not annoyed!

I would say though that Garner probably fitted my 'playmaker' idea well enough (although also yes didn't exactly not fit your description either), so in that sense Cooper has gone with it before - it just depends whether we see Mangala more like a Kante or more like I dunno Jean Tigana or someone, and O'Brien more like a McGovern or a Hodge to use Forest examples in terms of being an anchor or more adventurous (bearing in mind 3 CBs might well be behind like I say, and also to be fair when Hodge played alongside Webb he wasn't alongside a DM for example or enforcer type even though Webb wasn't slight and could use the slide tackle well to be fair....but this is getting off track a bit because Clough's Forest of the late 80s is not Cooper's Forest as of now even though one or two parallels in counter attacking capability and maintaining possession did seem to be there last season I'd say at least). Admittedly neither have Yates's size and Cooper might prefer not to have them as the anchor or in a pair for that reason (hence potential interest in an extra player like Stach I suppose).

Deeply troubling times it seems at the City Ground. Firstly we've lost our star man Omar Richards to a double leg break and now we've been beaten to a signing by a team that'll struggle to get in the top half of the Championship next season. It won't surprise me if things like this are why Cooper hasn't singed his new deal yet.
Hopefully, we'll be able to get Jizz on the team before we miss out on that too.
