Igor Jesus Maciel da Cruz of BRASIL - sponsored by Notcher, who has constantly said that he's not a PL striker

Brilliant that he's getting some goals now. Absolutely chuffed for the lad.

It does prove he's not a striker who can lead the line on his own. It's no coincidence that his PL output has changed on a sixpence since Wood came in. Wood occupys the defenders and it allows Jesus to operate in the pockets off him as the No10/false 9.

Absolutely delighted that Pereira has found the formula and had the bollocks to do it. Not many managers would do it.

Brilliant performance, he’s absolutely showing some cracking form at the moment.

As Michael Dawson once said: „Love to see this!“

Who shall I criticise next?
Thing is though Notch we are seeing the best of him playing off a proper 9 which when you look at his play style makes so much sense. We just haven’t had that before now

Edit: spotted your prior post saying just that.

That said, this is why I couldn’t get the criticism of him as he just carried on game after game being asked to play a role that isn’t his

A frankly cracking performance from the young man, he seemed to be popping up all over the place, especially in the first half.

Playing off of a recognised striker is really his position, and you can see what potential he’s got in that role.

Superb!

I have always loved this guy.

Just imagine, very young, still learning your trade craft and developing as a person and player, otherside of the globe, dont speak the language, into a team with high expectations and then, 4 managers, many different ways of playing for 3 of the 4 managers as they become desperate is quite hard. Then you become the only recognised CF with all expectations on you.

He has done exceptionally well. He has never stopped running, trying or supporting his team under utterly mental situations.

I seriously dont get the beating he has taken. The formations, tactics are not his choice, but he has never stopped.

The last 120 mins of football really show his worth and ability when utilised correctly and the set up is right for the whole team.

Just from last night's highlights his movements, team play and finishing are great. Keep him, he has a home here with us.

People rightly praise Sunderland's recruitment, Xhaka being a highlight and we while overall our poor recruitment is probably the main reason we find ourselves where we currently sit, just 10 million for this player could make him the signing of the season, at least in English football.

I have criticised it too but that was mainly the expensive purchases. McAtee and Kalimuendo I will say haven't had too many chances but Bakwa and Ndoye have disappointed. Zinchenko, Lucca and Luiz weren't great either.

On the flip side - Igor has done very well in his first season here. Savona, Netz and Jair look solid buys and Hutchinson obviously had the English player tax but has contributed. Ortega was a great pick up.

It's been very 50/50 this season.

Yes, but can't be left isolated, sandwiched between 2 monster prem defenders with 'hopeful, balls dinked in to him.

Give him the support and hey ho, here we go 😃
I think he can do that, he probably does that better than most.

Just don’t expect him to score loads when he does, then again, what striker can you expect that of?

Love this lad. What a signing.

Even when he was going through that barren patch, he was still putting himself about and showing great attitude.

Thriving now playing behind Chris Wood. That goal last night wasn't as easy as he made it look, he can certainly finish when given the chances.
