What is this DAZN then?

I'm afraid I'm a little DAZN confused!

DAZN is a sports streaming service, which started in Germany originally.

They’ve focussed initially on boxing but then added MotoGP, US college football, ice hockey, the NBA, and then added major European football leagues (at the moment I can watch Serie A, Ligue Un, La Liga, the Portuguese Liga, as well as the German Bundesliga). There’s loads of other stuff as well, as they include Eurosport‘s channels.

They recently launched in the U.K. but currently (I think) only offer boxing, but that will change because DAZN is going to buy-out the BT Sport platform so anything currently on BT Sport in the U.K. will end up on DAZN.

You can steam it via app (iOS and Android, as well as AppleTV and Amazon TV devices and Smart televisions).

The quality is excellent, with decent commentary options and presenters.

Ah ok thank you Strummer.

I declined to renew my iFollow / Forest TV subscription on the basis of the poor quality of the offering - the main reasons being the terrible video quality and intrusive adverts (why am I paying to watch adverts?!!).

It's an extremely poor service compared to similar services out there.

It is, it is overpriced and poor quality and adverts? f*** adverts.

If you want to push adverts, the service should be cheaper.

DAZN for me is €14,99 a month and that is brilliant value because I can watch top-class sport every single day for that.

Forest‘s poor offering is more expensive, and you won’t get every match because (based on the last two seasons) around a quarter are „blacked out“ from video.

It’s overpriced, poor quality rubbish and it takes advantage of Fans by levying an excessive price.

I agree Forest tv is over priced crap, you cant listen to the pre match or half time comments because of the bloody adverts which are of no interest to expats which the service is mainly aimed at.
But what really makes my piss boil is how quick the audio shuts down at the end of the game so you cannot hear the the full time scores and managers comments.
As a package I cannot see any improvement on the awful ifollow service except I am paying 30 pounds extra for the crap.

Was blocked here too, but there is a list of Tier 1 and 2 countries somewhere, so a quick connect to Taiwan VPN gave me my stream back.

Can't remember if tier 1 has the blocked access or the other way round

I think the issue there is that the streams come from the EFL.

So basically, the EFL covers every match, and then decides who it goes to - now for clubs who then use the iFollow service the EFL then handles the actual streaming in house but like us and others who aren't in that then they just resell the streams to the clubs to sort out that.

It's probably also the EFL and not the clubs who make the decisions about commentary from the BBC, advert providers etc.

Yes, the adverts are shite, and presumably completely irrelevant to everyone outside the UK (which if it's not a midweek game will be everyone watching it, unless they are using a VPN) and cut over the broadcast stream rather abruptly, but at least this doesn't happen over any live action.

Short of completely cutting out of the EFL's streaming and doing it all themselves I'm not sure what the club could do better - and that is possibly something they may not be allowed to do.

It's the fact that the match has been offered for purchase and then access is extremely limited to Taiwan Forest it takes the piss

Taiwan? Noted. Cheers!
There are probably many other countries that will work too. I used Taiwan on ExpressVPN as it's geographically close to me so I figured any increased latency due to being in the VPN would be minimised.
Still got some buffering, but not too much (and saw all the goals live).

As someone else noted, it's weird getting adverts for Papa John's Pizza (the bulldog?), Cazoo (I have no need for a car, thanks), BOXT (makes a bit more sense, but again, I'm not in the market for a boiler). Feels a bit amateurish to be honest.

Amateurish and Forest go together like gin and tonic, especially on commercial matters.

Has anyone ever received a reply from Forest TV support, I have sent 3 emails and not received any reply's since they started not even an acknowledgement that it has been received.

It’s a joke I’ve sent emails asking why I’m paying to listen to adverts and often post match just seems to disappear, nothing back!

So 3 out of the 4 matches in March have been moved for tv coverage.

That means overseas Forest TV subscribers who would have expected to watch 4 matches in March will now only get to live stream 1 with Forest TV.

Every month as matches get selected for Sky, the value of Forest TV gets worse and worse.

On average Forest are selected for Sky coverage about 16 to 18 times a season, also they are likely to be selected at least 2 times for the 15-00hrs coverage on a Saturday afternoon worldwide.
As all these games are likely to be blacked out on Forest TV for many subscribers it really is not value for money.
As I am having trouble even logging on to Match Centre on Forest website and support from Forest TV is non existent no reply to emails, and the club as no public contact email address on website so how do you sort problems.
Know doubt Forest TV will know to contact me, when they want my money next season and I will take great pleasure in telling them to stuff their overprice, unsupported crap up their arses.
When I look at what the NFL game pass offer me for less money, Forest TV is a crap rubbish organisation who I don't think could run a bath let alone a IPTV service.

I have been a long-standing critic of this „Forest TV“ service, because it is absolutely rubbish.

The mobile apps they developed - as many may remember, we were promised a „world class“ service - are very, very poor; technically they do not meet current Apple design standards for iOS Í(for one example, they don’t properly integrate with the operating system‘s audio controls, which is something that might have been acceptable five years ago, but it’s 2022!)

The video quality - again, we were promised better - is again poor, often looking like it’s been shot via a camcorder from 1986. there are constant issues with being logged out, and having to repeatedly log back in, and the site interface (along with much of the club website) is a disorganised mess that would make even the stoutest UX consultant cry.

The club should be doing much better. Many other clubs manage this, why can’t Forest?

(And yes, I might be being over-critical because my day job involves enterprise-level IT systems, but that’s precisely why I know they could - and should - be doing a better job here, rather than the current half-arsed setup).

Worst; last summer - as perhaps a precursor to this „world class“ service - they put the price up by 20% to €200, at which point I said no thanks and just took the audio sub which is around €50.

Yes I could easily afford it, but that’s not the point.

The service is just poor value for that price-point. It’s €200 for effectively nine months of the year, and that works out more expensive than my Sky Sport DE or DAZN subscriptions, which offer far better value (and DAZN has the championship, too, including Forest matches „blacked out“ in Germany, of which there are quite a few, each season).

They promised loads of additional content, and it just isn’t there. Most of what is available is always publicly on YouTube or other social media outlets, so there doesn’t seem to be the „exclusives“ that were promised.

I am all for supporting the club, but at the same time, I refuse to be ripped-off.

Attempts to raise these issues fall on deaf ears, nobody from the club, or it’s apparently outsourced technical partner seem to care, so I just voted with my wallet.

Yes, overseas supporters may well be a small minority of Forest‘s supporter-base, but that does not mean they should be fobbed-off with an inferior, overpriced product.

There is definitely a lot more they could do.

So when we went into lockdown and all the matches were played without fans and we could pay £10 to watch them, I cancelled the audio pass, didn't need it (I have it back again now in case we're playing and I'm not near a radio). But it wasn't then obvious how to do it, I had to send an email, considering it was paid monthly, people might want to do that especially if they're paying extra to watch the matches.

Even then what it costs represents quite a lot of money for 2 hours of audio commentary either once or twice a week.

Most of the other content appears to be available online even if you don't pay anything, from what I can see there's very little interviews / highlights etc that you need to pay to watch. And the full match if you've bought it, you can watch again (but why would you if you have already watched it) but only for a limited time I think. Difficult to see what they could do here though as it's possible to yank stuff off Youtube.

I guess also certainly for UK supporters the video passes are all they can really do. But the point there is that the rules are a bit silly. Quite why 3pm Saturday kickoffs can't be live streamed is probably outdated. It won't impact match attendances if the people who are buying them aren't going anyway, and it costs less than a ST but the club could still make money out of it. £10 is a bit much for the product even though there are adverts during half time etc, but still isn't that bad.

The site is a bit of a mess though, nowhere does it say what you can get match passes for or where you can get them, it'd be nice to be able to like pay £1 or something for a match on audio and to see these in advance. It's not even showing if you can get one for tomorrow's match yet, or when these will be available. They know which matches are under blackout so surely can list these in the fixture list?

Oh and don’t get me started on the audio service being blighted by adverts (all for U.K. services which are irrelevant for anyone overseas) meaning that you miss considerable parts of the pre-match build-up, the half-time analysis and post-match coverage.

If this were a free service, I might be accepting of adverts - like the free-tiers of Spotify and YouTube are supported with advertising - but the amount of them, and the geographically-useless content is unacceptable for a paid-for commercial offering.

Does the youtube links to Forest U23s count as Forest TV?

It really should be on that service and more reliable. Last night they say they streaming the game on youtube and twice it cut after a couple of minutes and supposedly they then couldn't show the game due to technical difficulties.

Our club should be more professional than that?

I was rather hoping that I could win the Eurolottery on Friday and use some of my winnings to improve ForestTV. Sadly I didn't win and am still eking out the pension, which is just not enough to extend the TV service at the moment.

Do you know, I registered at the start of the season, but haven't looked at it since. I thought it was free, I hope I haven't been paying all thattime.

I mean, if I was paying I would have looked, just the thought of missing out peeves me.
